My brothers G96 Model 800 :

The knife came with a bevel but no edge to speak off ! So it went on the grinder for a 80 grit wet stone grinder edge .
Back in the late 70's early 80's the local sports store was pushing two knife brands .. Buck and G96 !
Damned expensive knives in the day .. Seems some one has stock on Ebay & my brother got himself a G96 for old times sake . ( To expensive in the day ) .

So this would be the first edge put on this knife .. And it pushed out a 300 slice roll .
Remembering this is 70's/80's 440c .. One would hope that steel processing / manufacturing has improved since then ( which it has ) .
So the performance is not to bad at all . My old German knife in Carbon also did a 300 , but the edge faded rather than rolled . ( same 80 grit edge / done at the same time )
The knife was not purchased for use , but rather for the sake of owning .. But my brother wanted to know how the knife would rank against the knives he already has .
Interesting tit bit , the manufacturer recommends a 25 degree edge .. If anyone wants to know . HRC ? , yeah I wasn't going to scratch his G96 .. ( Sorry )
