I'm a 15 year old knife enthusiast(its not my main gig maybe around 5th or 7th) and I was wondering why most teens are ignorant about knives or see people with them as creepy (I carry a spyderco paramilitary 2 which in honesty doesn't look threatening. I tried to ask on 4chan but those assholes were useless

4Chan is a buch of retards.NEVER ask them for anything man.

And most teens are ignorant because of the growing mosconception that a knife is a weapon. A knife is a tool. Just like a shovel or a screwdriver, and should be viewed as one until used otherwise.

Take my advice or leave it.
1. Use the search function, or Google. This topic has been discussed a lot.
2. Your young and it will be difficult enough to earn credibility, pointless swearing in the family friendly forums wont help.
3. Never go back to 4Chan

For the topic,
Bottom line is as long as your not breaking the law, dont care what others think about what you do. It's none of their business.

I myself am a 16 yr old knife enthusiast. I carry a PM2 too! Let me say, this point hits the bulls eye. I think the reason many teenagers are ignorant of knives is that, as fishcakes said, many children are taught that a knife is a weapon. Also because today's generation views objects as disposable. Packaging, phones, computers, appliances. Not many teens have had the experience of using a quality, well sharpened knife. Just a piece of advice, when it come to knives, you listen to what you say, not what your friends say. A knife could very easily save you life, or someone else's. For example, what if you were in a car crash and you had to cut the seat belt, or die?

I don't get the creep factor though I'll be totally relaxed going about my day and someone always gives me beef for 3.75 inches of steel

It's not just kids. A lot of adults don't have a clue about knives. I see people trying to open CDs with their teeth and opening packages with scissors. Once when my wife and I were
at a show at the local college, we decided to buy the CD the performers were selling. We were in line to have them autograph the CD. The man behind us was struggling to get the plastic
wrap open and I offered him my small Sebenza. He freaked out about me carrying such a gigantic knife. :roll eyes: I don't offer it anymore.

Same here Uffda- I whipped out my "sword" at Sam's Club to help a lady struggling with a small box. I tried not to flash it or make a big deal about it, but the overwhelming size of a BK11 was more than she could handle. I even asked her before I brought it out.

Im in nj so... I try to keep my blades around 2- 2 1/2 inches. Otherwise ill be arrested for carrying a concealed deadly weapon. Worst is, im a small guy with small hands. The fake dreaded 4 finger "law" rears its ugly head. Even cops go buy it. 3 inches is actually slightly longer than my 4 fingers

As long as you're not doing harm to others, you're not doing anything wrong. (IMO, of course)
