What's the gizmo called that you can use to pipe several input sources to one TV, and choose between them, or do split screens, etc.?

I'm thinking it's called a multiplexer, but everything I search on that comes up wrong...

Basically, I'm wanting to feed a number of computers to one monitor, so that I can do the "Jumbotron" kind of thing and put up the hottest game going on, or two or more people's views of the same game, etc. I know it can be done, I just can't think of the name.

And it's not a KVM switch, either...that'll switch between systems, but not put multiple inputs in a split screen format, at least not that I'm aware of...

So, help me out. I know there's gotta be some geek out there that knows this. Heck, I'd wager a couple of you folks probably have one!!

;)

If Extron doesn't make it, I believe some video Scalers do that sort of thing, but they're quite expensive, in teh multi thousand dollar range. Faroujda probably has that functionality. Real video walls use very expensive dedicated hardware.

Are you talking of some gizmo, that will let you see several video signals on one screen at the same time? Or are you talking about just switching from source to source, with only one source on the screen at any given time?
If it's the former, I haven't a clue. If it's the latter, all that is is signal splitter, that can be had at any Best Buy for about $20.
I have one so I can switch between inputs for my VCR, PS2, DVD, and Nintendo, all hooked up to the same TV.

I know it's possible to have two monitors operating at the same time. Both my roommates did it. One used one monitor to watch Tv and the other to surf the net. When you moved the mouse it would keep scrolling to the other monitor once you ran off the primary. Is this what you want?
