Why is it all the nice pocketsy outdoorsy type trousers I see are made out of some blend of cotton or another?

Does anyone make trousers on a similar pattern to BDU-types but out of a nice soft wool?

Thank you. :)

Look for the Swedish military surplus wool pants. They were real heavy on the market for a few years but are still available. I have bought them, used them and liked them. In fact my oldest son wore a pair two winters ago, and "stole" them from me. They are well built, durable, and are styled like the older non-camo US military field pants with cargo pockets. The other good part is that they are fairly cheap. Major Surplus

used to have them I believe. If not them check the net or your local surplus dealer. Good luck!

i use llbean wool cargos, and have seen pairs from woolrich and cabelas as well. most are too heavy for anything but winter use though.

Woolrich is makein a tactical line of clothing. Try them....

Sadly, the Woolrich tactical line is all cotton canvas construction, much like Royal Robbins' 5.11 line.

A great fabric for outdoors action is Brigade Quartermaster's Combat Cloth...it dries fast and lasts forever.

Hey.. what about linen? Seems it'd wear well and be pretty tough for the application. I've some raw silk trousers that are nice as well, but a little flimsy for the woods..

Ok if you want the BEST wool garment available today, check out King of The Mountain. They are a little bit pricey but WELL WORTH it, not sure how old you are but if you are still growing or are planning on either gaining or losing weight, I suggest you get a size that is a little bit bigger. King of the Mountain is gear that will last you a lifetime. Their camo patterns are exceptional, similar to woodland but better.
