I just got this back today I had it commissioned quite a while ago. I have had the knife for some time the handles are 22 carot gold nugget I had 2 (difficult to see )mine cut diamonds and a miniature 20 dollar gold piece put on the handle. The 38 cal derringer and fob chain are gold plated. These were worn ( carrried )by gamblers in there vest pocket and until the piece was taken out it looked like a watch with a fob. LT

LT, it looks like you could cover any High-Low sweep, or even the less renowned "Cut "n" Run", with that rig. Tell us more! :)

Bill

Beautiful. Just exactly what we'd expect from our LT. Study it as I may, going through several of my gun references, I cannot make out the make of the derringer. What is it?

Phil

It is not an old gun I believe F&L bought around 1973. They were made in Fla this one was nickle (which helps in some of the steps should you ever want one plated) and having been quite reasonable at the time I carried it as a pocket piece for many years. It is as most are, patterned after the old Rems. I always found the derringer action cumberson at best. In the ensuing years I went to several backup or small secondary pieces most of which I had prettied up. Black crome stag pearl ect. Finally for an in your pocket carry everywhere I settled on a little 22 Beretta with a pop up barrel small perfect for self defense fast and easy to use. Just pop one in the bad guys kneecap and get the hell out of there. I am old now my sense of fair play is no longer a fair fight and shake hands afterward. In fact it hasen't been anyone elses sense of fair play in many years. Being old I find that when struck at this point it is no longer a matter of shaking it off with a laugh. Things hemmorage turn blue and I suppose could fall off. I have found this out by bumping into things ect. Which I also tend to do quite a bit. Therefore In order to retain my youthful intense defensive fighting ability ( HA HA ) I carry a gun. This prosthetic devise allows me to be as formidable to defend myself as I ever was. Much as viagra does in other areas. Perhapes that is where the reference to men releating there guns to sex organs began ???? With my penchant for not being able to keep my mouth shut my low threshhold for abuse for myself or others I find that a viable means of rapid defense is necessary. Or as the old saying goes. I take no lip because I have 6 friends on my hip. Sorry I seemed to have regressed into a treatise on guns. Suffice it to say that should the time come that all weapons of this nature are disallowed I will give mine up without a whimper for if that is the law no matter how stupid it must be obeyed, however in the true spirit of our forefathers who founded this land by rebellion against unfair stupid laws, I will give them my guns piece by piece. Starting with the lead. LT

Excuse me sir did you mean the derringer in a positive sense, or my unorthadox opinionated somewhat jaundiced attitude in a more caustic vein. Just kidding thankyou. I guess I ought to dig out some of the other stuff I have had made if anyone is interested. LT

nah...I was talkin' bout you, LT.....

:p :p :p

:footinmou

LT,
Dig em all out.
Love to see whats in that old attic of yours too.
Thanks for the view and opinion too.

That´s a nice rig LT, nice knife, nice fob, nice gun, And the narrative too.

We can make this the Show and Tell forum.

You are obviously a man of great insight and understanding to have seen into my personallity so quickly. I throughly agree with your assessment. Any way thanks again. LT PS I just noticed those little face things in your posting are moving is that normal or is it me.

I had to come back and check this out again. Yep, I like it as much as I did this morning. Pure class, Lt. Pure class. I like your idea of dressing up a concealed carry piece.

Phil

PS.. My favorite gambling - fight scene in a movie? (Since all of you asked).. Val Kilmer as Doc Holiday in 'Tombstone'. And he had my idea of the great girlfriend.. she had the horses all sadled and ready to go. They don't make women like that anymore.

Hey LT,
Did you have that with you at Foxwoods?
With that rig, a band from Don Luis, and a hand full of ping pong balls (In various sizes), no one bluffs you out and the cards will probably do your bidding.....Maybe you should sell shares....In exchange for Schrade knives of course. You are gonna look like Bret Maverick, Bart Maverick, Amarillo Slim, and Bobby Baldwin all rolled in to one tough customer.

Don't forget us when you hit the big time.

Bill ;)

I do know Slim ( for many years) and have played against him on several occasions. I was talking with him at the wsop last year. ( big deal right, he is even older than me ). I do have a Ct out of state carry license. So you can draw your own conclusion as to whether I was armed or not. ( Carrying a gun is like a near car accident it dosen't count unless you touch, same with a gun if you don't need it no one should know you have it. If you do pull it, use it and worry about the consequences after the fact ). However it was a shakedown cruise for my new RV (New to me anyway ) so I kept it simple trying to figure out how everything worked. No frills ( I did not look like the ostentatious ass that I usually do with all this junk on ). That is probably why I won a few dollars. Foxwoods is nice because they have a lot for RV's it is well lit with lots of shuttles. ( LOT #9 ) I bought the RV to hit a few knife shows and spread my money around more evenly to the casinos. The nice thing about the RV is that there is no 11 AM checkout. I like to start playing late I almost bought a condo in Vegas once just so I could get up at 3 AM and go to the mirage for a game. Now with online poker I can sit here in my pajamas eat my pablum ( I am old ) and no one can hear me expel gas. I love online poker. However do not play in the large limits some of the boys I know have already worked out a gimmick on that. Small limits are safe to little money and to much time to mess with. Slim is a legend for his outrageous bets and sayings. I watched him slow play a fellow in Stud many years ago. At the end of the hand one of the players asked him why he didn't nail the guy for all he was worth instead of just chopping him up a bit. His answer was that his father had told him years before "always remember you can shear a sheep many times but you can only skin him once". You will have to excuse me I was listening to boxing on TV and did not realize it was over until I heard some strange music. They really have some neat late night programs on cable. There was a lady with no clothes on making unusual noises I hope the guy I heard talking to her was not hurting her. I better go watch so that if he does I can report it to the station. LT

It's all just part of the charm of this Schrade ( content) Forum. Hang around a little bit, it will all begin to make sense. Usually. :D

I´m not much of a gambler but here´s some interesting words found on the web.
Taken from a review of "The Cincinnati Kid":

"For the true gambler, money is never an end in itself. It's simply a tool, as a language is to thought."

"Influenced only slightly by luck, money, and skill, this game of endurance and resilience strips human nature to its barest elements. It pits gambler against gambler in a staring match of sorts where the loser is the man who succumbs first to bravado, temptation, or false confidence."

Review here, also "The Hustler" and "Casino":

Classic movies..

Mr. Pendentive, welcome to our forum. Please don't let Spark know that our official moderator has been AWOL for a while. But I think this forum is proof that one doesn't need a moderator to have a little fun, discuss a few things and learn and share about Schrade knives.

We'll tell ya about the initiation if you stay around long enough...

Regards,

Phil

edited to add: Schrade content

Phil, you already mentioned Schrade in your 3rd sentence, as I have in my header. Then you came back and edited your post to add it AGAIN . Please stop overdoing it or some people may expect too much of us here. Just kidding. :D

Hope you folks have fun on your roadtrip. Take pictures......errr.....maybe write some stuff down. Especially if it has to do with SCHRADE .....or ping pong balls and Golden Bananas.

Bill

P.S.
LT I apologize for the slight misdirection of your thread. I want to be straight about that and I will tell you I was just bluffing a bit with Mr. textoothpk, his own bad self. Hope you can see through it OK, and not be flushed or mad. Odds are you will be OK with it, since you hold THE RIG.
