I really like the dimensions of the Busse Game Wardens. But as they are expensive and rare I was wondering if there is such thing as a similar knife for less than 100. Micarta scales would be nice.

Well IMO there is only Busse then there are the other knives.

You might be able to get another knife kinda like a Busse, but it won't be anything like the real thing.

John Landi (landiknives.com) has a PSK model and a MPS model, both those I think compare well.

Also the RC-3, I think Andy (Fiddleback Forge) has a couple comparable models.

I just got a Bark River Imp. Tough, sharp, little and cheap! Woulda loved a Busse AD!!

Dimensions and ergonomics are what I'm looking for so I'm willing to give up some of the features like the boutique steel and the convex blade.

I'm looking for something I can pocket carry but which still has enough handle to use.

I was thinking about that Rat3 but I wish the blade was a bit shorter for carry.
TOPS Ferret looks a bit too small.

I'm planning on traveling in Europe next spring with this knife. I think there's a slight chance I could lose the knife at some point so I don't want to go too high end.

RAT Izula ($60, no handles), Landi PSK ($80, handles and choice of sheath), Spyderco Swick ($40, no sheath or handles).

you wan't to be quite careful traveling through europe with a fixed blade. some european coutries have pretty restrictive knife laws.

I'm afraid I can't help on a knife like a GW, but I'm looking closely because I'd certainly like to find something simmilar.

If you want to have any chance of keeping it I would suggest one of the Spyderco non-locking folders or something similar. Can you believe you can't legally carry an Opinel in France? (per the knife shop I was at in Paris).

crapgame, if $ is a concern than I would like to remind you patience is a virtue :) You will be VERY happy you saved to get "The One". Sure you can get something similar for less $, but you only live once, SKYS THE LIMIT BABY! NO REGRETS!

If you keep your eyes open, Im sure you can find one with a nice sheath for no more than $250.

I have had my share of stuff. Spyderco was really the only company to ever get me hooked, that is until I owned my first Busse.

Actually, if like me you have minimal fun cash, than I advise you to STAY AWAY FROM BUSSE! I think they lace that steel with crack man.

I would love a Game Warden, but don't have the cash.

I have never handled one, and I am no authority on Busse. From a size point of view though, how 'bout Tops Knives Shango. It was designed by BF's own Joezilla. Looks to have a larger handle than most neck knives.

Oh I agree. Another Busse nut here, and a GW owner. No one makes knives like Busse.
But from all reports, RAT makes good knives for the money, and the RC-3 has the same general dimensions as the GW.
And micarta scales too I think? :D
