Game Warden Confusion

So I think my first true Busse will be a Game Warden, and it will probably be my EDC. I have noticed through searching the FS section, that prices on these guys can range from reasonable to astronomical.

I am sure that some of this price gap can be attributed to how rare the specific models were/are, but how do I know what a good deal is?

It seems like there are an infinite number of variants, and being a complete amateur in the Busse world, some hand holding would be great!

Thanks for entertaining my naive stumbling into the world of Busse Combat,
Alex

The red G10, and green linen micarta were made in very low numbers, so have commanded higher prices. The orange G10 (OJ Warden) and black G10 (Black Tie Warden) have also been rather desirable.

To add to the confusion, the Wardens were made in a range of thicknesses, from a properly thin 0.14" to stupidly fat (IMHO) 0.27" . Someone will be along shortly to post the sheet that explains all the models. And lunde has a photo gallery of every one.

You might find this hard to believe, but never have so many knives been available, and at such low prices. There is a user Heavy Heart on the Exchange at the lowest price I have ever seen. I paid a good bit more just over a year ago. :(

Check out lunde's Game Warden Fest thread on the exchange. I'm pretty sure a fair amount of research went into his asking prices, and I think they'll give you a pretty good idea what's a reasonable price for each combination.

Of course, that only covers the models sold through the Company Store. There were lots of ganzaaa and knife show variations which might command higher prices.

Between the "Game Warden Fest" thread and the Production Line Sheet I guess I know exactly what I am working with. You guys are tip-top on helping a new guy out. I feel my wallet quivering.

be afraid (for your wallet), very afraid.

I don't even collect and I've managed to rationalize a need for four Busse blades.

I probably need my head examined, but that's another story all together.

good luck, I sincerely believe they're the best fixed knives on earth.

Wardens originally sold for $237 +/-$10 depending on thickness, handles and finish. so you can base your price point on that figure. There are some screaming deals every once in a while especially for used ones. I got my GW with sheath for 200 plus shipping for instance.
