Well I'm new to the forum. I'm getting ready to purchase a Game Warden(double cut satin .17 thick with Black/greyish grips). I have a Swamp Rat and one of the older Busse neck knives(top shelf). I'd like to get up to speed on the terms used in referring to the Game Warden. Its features and general knife descriptions. Thanks, if this is posted somewhere else, just point me in the right direction. Cheers

I know that I've JUST seen a complete list... I can't remember the thread, but I believe Lil' Foo, and or MORIMOTOM have posted lists at some point recently... try an advanced search with their names for their respective postings. :) SOMEONE'll be along, if this doen't help, to tell ya!! :)

first releases were:

tan micarta scales w/double cut finish, and blk micarta scales w/ double cut finish. you will see these referred to as tan/dc and blk/dc

limited edition, snakeskin micarta scales/satin
green satin/satin finish (rarest of all)

smogs, or special military overun game wardens next. desert camo g10 scales, and plain edge satin finish, or serrated dc finish. or smog pe, smog se, or some variation thereof.

followed by red g10/satin finish,
orange g10/satin,
green g10/'fish' scale pattern dc/satin finish,
search and rescue (sar) yellow g10/blk crinkle finish,
skeleton w/ blk crinkle
muddy skeleton w/brown crinkle,

forgetting any?

Thanks can you explain some of the other "terms"
"double cut'
"satin finish" (as opposed to other finishes) is this like a "subdued" finish.
"talon" hole. Thanks

What you really need to know is what they are worth. And other than the Snake LE, the Green Linen, and SMOGs you should be able to get one at about the CO Store price (including shipping) and then add about 10%; and up to 20% max if you need one NOW. And that will tend to go up over time. Like you wouldn't buy one that was sold from the store last week for $217 and then pay more than maybe 257.00 for it now. But if it was months ago then maybe. That is my opinion and others will be different, falling on both sides of my perfectly reasonable opinion. :D

There are some fair deals on the exchange and then there are some that are in my opinion very bad deals. Also for a for a user I like Micarta much better.

I'd pass on the Skeletons for a primary user and get one with full slabs that you can hang onto.

Good Luck

"talon" hole. Thanks

Double cut is a double cut bead blast. Really durable and a nice finish
Satin is a high polish finish pretty much
Talon hole is busse's patented hole near the choil

And shipping was about 14.00, they don't do you any good if skunk keeps them in Idaho.

Thanks, that helps. Ok what about this one "a double cut satin .17 thick with Black/greyish grips" this is the knife that I am looking at right now.Would the blade on this be "subdued" or a "high polish"? Thanks.Opinions?

double cut and satin would be two different versions unless I need to drink more

But anything stating satin would be more towards high polish

Generally correct but now there are those patters DC into a satin blade. So have a drink!

OK here's a pic. Am I getting the "terminology" right?

Yes dc/blk micarta.
