Here's mine, a canted cross-draw pin-lock minimalist for the Game Warden. I've never tried a pin-lock before so it was a lot of fun figuring it out.

I'd also like to mention I discovered the talon hole on this flame warden has a larger ID than the talon hole on my CG ASH1. Weird.

I absolutely love it! I often find that less is more!

what a beauty!!!

is there another benfit of the pin lock other than retention? i had one for a fighter and it drove me nuts unsheathing the knife.

Yep, taking orders. :D

morimotom: the only benefit is retention!

I made a drop loop sheath for my BRKT mini northstar and it has no retention strap at all. I was worried about it for a while but after wearing it for a few months for EDC I realized I don't have a lot of need for the retention strap. On the other hand I could imagine being in certain circumstances where I would want to be safe in the knowledge that the knife wouldn't come out of the sheath on accident. The snap-on pin-lock is nice in that I can totally remove it if I don't want it, or snap it on for solid lock-in.

The function is a little tricky at first, but you unsnap the upper snap and then the pin pulls right out, and the strap swivels out of the way on the lower snap. It would work best with a pull-the-dot snap for the bottom, I think, which is what I'll use if I make more of these.

what i like, is you could lock the knife in with the pin while in a pack or for travel.

then remove the whole thing for use in the field.

great design!

Bro, that is an awesome little sheath --- very nice design AND executuion. I love how small it is!

I like your interpretation of the pin lock! :)

The stitching around the snaps is a nice addition, very classy.

Wow, Mikey! I like it a lot, and I've never seen one like it before!! Really great workmanship, too!

Very nice work, Mikey.
How do you manage to mark and stitch such perfect circles?

Thanks, Soup. I have a free-hand groover and I used it to groove around the snaps. It didn't seem so hard, I just had to be careful - and no coffee before leather work! :D

Sure. I've got a really bad cold this weekend so I've not much else to do, though I'll be watching 3:10 to Yuma and Resident Evil: Apocalypse later today. Please pardon the poor shots, and I make no excuses for my gut. Err, I mean my model's huge fat belly!

On belt, knife locked:

I've moved the sheath back a bit past the belt loop. Not sure which position I personally like best. Left hand unlocking the pin-lock by undoing the upper snap then sliding the pin out of the way:

Pin lock removed and swung away from the blade's exit path:

My cross draw, using my index finger to, err, index the path of the blade to be sure I don't cut myself or my clothes on accident:

Riding with no retention:

Nice and small so it doesn't print much under a nasty sweater that could probably use a wash:
