Is the Game Warden thin enough to do filleting and slicing (tomatoes and the like)? I'd like a smaller Busse with a somewhat thin blade for these purposes. If not, what other suggestions?
I have a NMSFNO but it's no good for slicing food :)

There are different thickness in the game wardens, so yes, they can be thin and would be great for slicing.

What thickness would I be looking for in the warden for this purpose? I like the looks of the Warden over the Culti

There were a few models of Wardens that are 0.14". Those are the good ones. ;)

Also consider the BAD, Boney Active Duty, the thinnest of all ADs.

This may help with your search. :D

THe .140 GW's are great for many task, but I would want more blade length and some flexibilty like 4th knife down for quality fillets:thumbup:

Actually, I'm happy with my fillet knife that I have, I'm just wanting to add a busse to the list for EDC (that I can also use to fillet). Love those knives though. Busse is like a dope dealer...he gets you hooked. :)

I have used my GW quite a bit. Its not the thin one, but one of the medium thicknesses. I have to agree with Knifehunter; the thickness is not as much of an issue as the blade shape and size. The short blade just doesn't lend itself to slicing something like a tomatoe or onion. Though I have not filleted a fish with it, I think it would do an acceptable job. I think one of the longer, narrower blades such as the Active Duty or Culti would better suit your needs.

My GW gets used the most for general camp duty. It does well for the frequent camp chores. It also does a pretty good job whittling (limited only by my skills). I have also cleaned big game with it including gutting and skinning. I chose a longer, thinner blade for the butchering.

The GW is a great knife to have though. If you haven't yet, I highly recommend picking one up. There are quite a few on the exchange at reasonable prices.

GW's are nice little knives. I have one and use it all the time and it does a great job on small tasks.
