Hello...I've got a "new" GW...probably several years old but still new.
The scales are 2 pieces per side, layered. As I recall the white outer piece
is bone....Giraffe I think.....Now it's got a hairline crack in the bone from the
mosaic pin to the end of the scale. It's about 1/3 of an inch long, not apparent, but
a close look it's there.
Question is..I want to sell it and would like to know how much it affects the value.
I'd appreciate any feedback on this. Thank you. Mike

It's really hard to say for sure, especially without pics. A lot of people that have knives with bone / ivory handles display them or use them only lightly, so having an imperfection can certainly decrease the price quite a bit. A lot of the higher end knives are a bit of a hard sell right now with all of the knives coming out of operation 2 weeks. On the opposite side of the coin the custom shop is closed so if people are looking for custom shop knives they have no choice but to look in the private sale area. I realize this isn't much help, but at the end of the day it's worth whatever somebody is willing to pay for it. Take some high quality pics and list it for the price you want, and if you don't get any action lower the price a bit and / or open it up to reasonable offers. GLWYS.

As a person who ran pawnshops for twenty-five years I can say that value is what it is. You have retail value, used value, loan value, don't you know who I am value and value is where you find it value. Large knife and gun shows are a great place to find that "Always wanted to try one of those knives!" for a good value. Get your walking stick and be ready to spend the day looking for that knife you always wanted to experience and after a few years you will understand all the ins and outs about what something is really worth and have a lot more fun for it. Call it the law of supply and demand!

Have you called Busse about it? Natural material is generally excluded from the Busse warranty, but they may still take it in for scale replacement. Always good to check to see what they can do for ya.

I always thought all handle materials were covered under warranty which is why Busse don't work with material provided by their customers.

I may be wrong! :) Please keep in mind that I do not work for Busse...and the noggin is gettin' forgetful. :D

Worth a call.
