Game Warden vs. Active Duty

Hey guys, I just got a Game Warden, for the most part I like the size, but its just a bit smaller than I'd like I think. I bought the GW for an all around EDC knife with a bit of camping thrown in. Does anyone anyone own both the AD and the GW and can tell me what you think? Which do you like better? Is it worth the extra effort/money/whatever to get the AD? Thanks for the help.

I'd say an AD is definitely worth it. It's a larger package overall, about as large as I can go (at work) for an EDC. But I like the AD better for camping and general use. I prefer the blade profile with less belly and more of a pointy tip. I think the AD handle feels better, too.

If I could only have one, it would be the AD over the GW. The AD and the SS4 are my favorite smaller knives.

I prefer the AD blade shape as well though it is a little longer and heavier than the typical (non phatty) GW.

I have the GW in .200, is that the fat one or is that only the .270? You guys have given me a bit to think about, I don't think I'd want anything heavier. Any other opinions? Does anyone prefer the Game Warden or is the Active Duty pretty much a hands down winner?

I think people call the .270s the fattys. The .220 are the chubbys, and the .200s are the "warden's got back". :p

I prefer the GW's... ;) :D:D LOL ...Man, that pic is outdated... Got many more AD's now! I'm gonna have to take another pic of the custom AD collection again!!

They both have their uses, but I just like the AD's a little more overall. Have lots of both.

.27" is considered to be the fattest of the GW's... SO FAR. My FAT GW selected for using couldn't cut its way out of a paper bag (a bit of over-exaggeration!) until I put a convexed edge on it after bringing the bevel down to just about a zero edge... NOW it shaves hair easily, cuts flesh easier than that (I found out last night! OUCH), and it is now in the EDC rotation!

The GW packs almost as much blade in a significantly smaller package, especially when compared with the older-style ADs with the large choil. The AD handle gives you more to grab on to and is more aggressively textured. The AD blade shape is a little better for general utility.

Edit - The AD does feel bigger, but if you want more than a little bit bigger, better to go with a Mean Street (can probably scrounge up a miliganza or custom shop model on the exchange) or Sus Scrofa (company store). SAR 4" might be another option, but I don't know how the handle and overall size compare.

I prefer the Game Warden, actually. Nice little knife, not too long a blade, and I like the straight handle with a round butt. I'd rather it didn't have that choil, though.

Jax my boy you have way too many knives. I will help you thin the herd. Begin by sending me the fifth down from the top in that picture.

No, no need to thank me, happy to help.

If you don't have a GW yet, I'd get it first. It's hands down the best Busse for carrying in your pocket.

Man, you've got some deep pockets! I could pocket a GW but don't know if I could sit down with it in there... I'd say the Assault Shaker is more pocketable.

I've got one of each and they both have they're strong points. The GW is a nice compact knife with a 3" blade, the AD is a tad bigger and a 3.5" blade which might affect your EDC options. Personally I'd love to see a GW with an AD handle, I've got the opposite of that... I also like big belly knives, but you almost have to have one of each...

I much prefer the blade shape of the GW but it could use another 5/8s of blade length to be just about perfect. The AD is also a great knife but a bit too pointed for me. But I also have a few of each.
