Ok, now that I have the 22 inch Ganga Ram on the way I want to check out the different custom sheaths that may be available for its carry. Since this seems to be the place with the people in the know on Khukris then what are the different carries that are available and sheaths materials other than the sheath it comes with. What is you favorite method of carry and why. Thanks.

Terry Sisco used to make the best khukuri sheaths but I think he gave it up to spend more time with the family. He is around here some times.

We've got some guys on the forum who make very good sheaths -- getting them to make one is another story.

Rocky you might check on the Busse Forum for some sheath makers.
Actually they are more correctly called scabbards as they are hard cased and nigh impenetrable, Kydex & Concealex.
Sheaths are usualy soft and flexable and although doing a good job of protecting both the owner and knife they are mostly easily penetrated in heavy use situations.
I think Normark is one of the scabbard makers and I think he's among our neighbors to the Great North in Canada.
That may not make it too conducive to sending him a khukuri that large, but if anyone can do it some of those guys can.
I have heard nothing but good words for all the sheath and scabbard makers here on the forums.

N2S gets around on a lot of the forums he may be able to recommend someone. If he doesn't answer this thread you might find one of his posts and e-mail him.
Most of us with e-mail addresses posted don't mind getting mail from fellow forumites.:)

Rocky,

Check out Mike Sastre at www.rivercitysheaths.com He should be able to help you. He does great work in Kydex and Concelex. Let us know how you do, as I have one or two Khuks that might like Concelex rigs.

Rocky,

You could also check out Robert Humelbaugh at www.survivalsheath.com. I got a sheath and rig from him for my Busse Basic 7 and it came out very good. I know he does ones for khukuris also because he's done one up for the Cold Steel khukuri so I think he should be able to do one up for an HI Khukuri also. Let me know how you make out because I'm looking to have a couple made as well, one for my 15 inch Ang Khola and another one for my Kesar M43..

River City looks like they have some really nice stuff. I tried to give Survivalsheaths a gander and was greated with this message:

This site is not compatible with Netscape. This is not intentional, but rather purely by accident. Netscape's mere presence on this planet costs businesses millions of dollars in unnecessary development costs, because it doesn't work properly. Consequently, most web designers have given up trying to develop for it.

If you don't like Microsoft or Internet Explorer, try Opera:

www.opera.com

Opera is super fast, highly customizable, and best of all, it works! Hell, even WebTV works with this site!

If this is how they treat me BEFORE they get my money, I can only imagine how they will treat me afterwards.

Obviously they do not want my money.

There's no reason they can't make it work with Netscape. I think they're trying to do something 'too' fancy (like their Flash video in the beginning)....and their 4% is rubbish!! The HI site has about 10% of its hits from Netscape browsers!

I just received my 22 inch Ganga Ram and it is far superior to even my imagination. "Uncle" Bill the workmanship is awesome. I could not be pleased more than I am! The Khukuri Bug has hit me with a sledgehammer. I am hooked for life. This is my first but definitely not my last. My wife took one look and exclaimed WOW! Definitely a good thing as she may now want her own.

Rocky,

I had never gone on Robert's site using Netscape so was never aware that there would be a problem. I use Internet Explorer for the most part, but also use Netscape on those rare occasions when I come upon a site whose Java Script is not recognized by Internet Explorer. In any event though I'm pretty surprised as well that the site would not recognize Netscape since most sites generally accept both browsers. In any event, Robert's been pretty straightforward with me in answering the questions I had about the sheath for my Busse Basic 7. I have heard good reviews on Mike Sastre's sheaths also so you cannot go wrong there. Let us know how you make out because I'm also looking for a kydex sheath for my M43.
