Gaps around pins??

My new Case peanut has a strange attribute.
I noticed the other day that around the left and right pins, (Not the middle one) there are gaps.
Is this normal, or did I get a dud?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

This one shows the difference between the left pin, and the middle one. Showing the space difference around the pin

I bought one a week ago. Never paid much attention to it, but mine looks the same. I checked to make sure the walk and talk was good, which it was and walked out with it. I am curious what others will say.

To me, it just seems to be the pre drilling of the scales, and a recessed portion to except the head of the pin/nail head.

If you look hard enough you will find blemishes or imperfections on anything that the human hand has taken part in making. Not a deal breaker for me.

Those pins are machine pressed and the delrin is soft.I really dont see a problem. It appears even all around. It looks like you have some pocket dirt around them which makes it stand out.It wouldnt be an issue for me.

Ok. Thanks! I gotta ask though, if what you're saying is true (which i think it is), then how come the middle one is flush and sanded evenly to the scales?

Its simply because they are finished differently at the factory. There is a "How its Made" video floating around here someplace that i believe shows what we are discussing. The scales are pinned well before they meet backspring and blade.

My Medium Stockman Yellow Delrin CV has the same gaps on the pins. But everything is still alright. The knife fell out of my pocket or my hand different times. But the scales are still bombproof. Not wobbling or the gaps are causing breaks. To me, absolutelly no problem. Sometimes, these gaps on the pins even seem to give delrin a little more grip ;)

Kind regards
Andi
