Gaps on BlackJack Model 125

I have a BJ 125 and have noticed there are gaps on either side of blade where it goes into the handle in ricasso area. My concern is that as it gets cleaned with water after a gutting, processing, etc., being A2 steel that water will get in this area and accelerate the corrosion process. Any ideas on how to address this? I thought about carefully filling with wax but live in a hot humid area and think it will eventually melt being handled frequently. Silicone perhaps? Thoughts anyone...

Thanks

Hi,

Any pics? I'd shoot for some pure silicone sealant smeared down there. You could also try a tiny bit of thin clear epoxy. I do agree that moisture will get into that area and rust, hence why most old knives of similar construction have a rusty tang under that handle.

Good luck!
