Cleaning out my sister's garage today I had a lucky find. Found what looks like a Mil. issue fixed blade marked MK 3 MOD 0. The knife had quite a bit of surface rust and appeared to have been used as a bait knife. It had what appears to be some kind of hard plastic sheath that looked as if a dog had gotten a hold of it. After a little elbow grease all the rust was removed except a few specs on the cutting edge. The knife is in overall good shape, the edge has a few small chips in it and that is the worse of it. I was hoping that someone would be able to give me some background on the knife.

Sorry for the crappy cellphone pics.

I second puukkoman as a Navy divers / combat / utulity knife from Ontario or maybe Camillus. I believe mine is the latter but not sure. I think the newer ones are a "blued" stainless so it sounds like yours may be older??? I would like more info on these knives myself.

Ontario Knife Co. was the sole manufaturer for the U.S.N. Mark 3 Mod. O

though i did once chance upon a printed advert stating sister company, Queen Cutlery as maker for this US Navy SEAL diving knife.

the thing about it is just how similar the blade profile was to the Soviet AKM bayonet; though later product improments had done away with the severe clip point which is now almost straight at the false edge thereby eliminating tip weakness.

all said, a very fine find you have there!

Thanks for all the info everyone. Anyone know where I could find a mil. spec style sheath that would fit it ?
