Garage sale find!

This just proves there are good deals out there if you just look (or happen to stumble on them). I was driving down the street today and saw what looked like a garage sale. I stopped to see what they had and was told they were just cleaning the garage, not having a sale. The guy asked what I was looking for and I replied mostly shop tools and stuff.

The guy took me to the workshop behind the house and said most of the items inside were for sale. He just remarried and the tools belong to his wife's late husband. He stated he has no use for them (not mechanically inclined) and was planning on putting them in the local paper.

To make a long story short, I bought a Craftsman 10" table saw (one of the top of the line models) and a Craftsman table top drill press with the vise attachment. The guy also threw in 8 different saw blades (most still in the package) and a bunch of wood. Apparently the late husband was a woodworker and had a bunch of oak, cherry, walnut, etc...I thought this would be great for handles!

And now the best part, I only paid $100.00 for all of this. There were some other items I think I might go back for when I get some more cash. Anyone else find any good deals lately?

HOLY CRAP! Awesome find!

That never happens to me. Although ya kinda have to go to garage sales (or what you think are garage sales) to have a chance! LOL

Good for you.

Here are some of my recent finds. The sheep head mount I got at a yard sale for $20 ( I think lady was mad at her husband). In back is a lapping machine ( I think it is for rocks) that I
paid $100 for from the university auction.I do not really need it but it was too good of a deal to pass up.On the right is a 2 hp breathable air compressor that I picked up for $120 at the military auction.

Tell your friends who hit up yard sales to check for ya as well. I got a nice Craftsman table saw that way (the $450 new kind with cast iron table...very nice) when a friend called me and told me he was putting a hold on it till I got there.

I find wood lathes at yard sales cheap. I paid $5 for a 36" cheepo that I had to put a $1 yardsale 1/2 HP motor on. Sold it for I think $45. Bought a great old 48" Delta , cast iron(?) bed,and a bunch of gouges, for $100. It was the same one I ran in high school shop class. Then I was given a small metal lathe, about a 24",for hauling some fire wood. I need to do some work on the metal lathe. Bought another about 36"belt drive wood lathe for $50 from a gal that needed some $. Also in with the lathe was a complete set of gouges. The $50 lathe and the set of gouges have never been used! It is a light duty(angle iron) machine compared to my Delta, but, what the heck! I am lathe poor. I have to add, you got one HECK of a deal! Great machines for any shop, fella! At least where ever the old boy is, he knows the machines will be put to good use.

I'll bet the guy that previously owned that stuff is rolling over in his grave.
By the way, my wife says that if I die before she does, my obituary in the paper will include the information that a huge garage sale will follow immediately after graveside. She wants that half of the garage back.;)
I hope she's just teasing.
Congrats on the great find!
