Well, I was driving to the office this morning in the rain and being garbage day in our neighborhood I happened to pass what looked to be a machine of some type in somebody's pile. I drove back and sure enough it looks to be a bandsaw. Probably doesn't work if it's in the garbage, but I thought there may be some cool stuff to do with it anyway. It's in my trunk and I haven't even looked at it closely. Brand name is INCA. Any ideas what to do with it assuming it doesn't work? Could I possibly change it into a belt sander or are the parts totally different?

With enough zip ties and duct tape, anything can be made into anything else.

Shouldn't be too hard to turn into a slack belt sander if nothing else

Chiro it's just a machine, belts. wheels bearings, With a little effort and some scrounging you should be able to get anything running. If you can't find a part make it or adapt another.

Chiro, The Inca brand is much sought after by wood workers, if its old they rebuild it.

If you don't fix it up you at least have some good trading stock.

Apparently this is an older model 340. The current one sells for $695 + shipping, but that's with the motor, which this one is missing. I need a 3/4 HP 1000 RPM motor for it. The toughest thing, in my opinion, will be to find a drive wheel for the belt that will fit on the arbor of the motor, assuming I can find one. Any ideas, guys? Worst case I'll hook it to my bike and exercise and cut knives at the same time!

Garrett Wade is the woodworking supply company that I see handling the Inca machines. You might give them a call and see about parts...
