Wow it has been a long time since i posted on here. I ussually find most of my info from searching this forum and never post. That I have been kind o really busy. Lol any who.
Has anybody used one of those Garmin GPS foretex units? If you have any experience with them please list the pros and cons. Also wouls you reccomend that series of gps?

I have a 201. It is rechargeable and lasts about 15 hours on a charge. I use it for hiking to see how far I've gone and how long it's taken me to get there. You can save your hikes and compare times and such. It can do some pretty cool things if you want to use it for running.

It seems to keep a signal even under a shirtsleeve. I like it and for day hikes it's a good GPS. I would recommend one if you want one to wear but for the price you can get a handheld that has replaceable batteries.

I have the model that is powered off of 2 AAA batteries and it works great. I have some problems when under dense tree cover, but it really isn't that often.

As always tho, I have a regular compass as backup. Technology is great, but old school will save your bacon.

the 101 and 401 run on AAA's, the 201 and 301 run on rechargeable batteries- personally I prefer AAA's for simplicity sake

the 401 (and 301) are the newer models that have a high sensitivity receiver- work well even under full canopy

as soon as the 401 drops a little in price I'll own one :)
