Garrett Wade saw

I've had that saw for about a year now. Wanted a good cross cut just for those times when the gas ain't there for the chainsaw. Cuts well, and is well built.

Looks very nice, but I wish they offered 36 and 48 inch versions. I have long arms and might as well make use of a longer saw stroke.

Hey Harpoon,

Have you owned other cross cut saws and how does this compare?

Is it eash to resharpen?

Do you know how much it weighs?

Thanks,

Geoff

Haven't dulled it yet to know how the sharpening is gonna be. It's fairly light weight but has a real sturdy blade. The only other cross cuts I have were my granddad's and they're about 100 yrs. old.
To be honest, I'd look at the saws Traditional Woodworker has. Better teeth pattern and more choices of size, wish I'd had waited and got one of their's.

Hey Harpoon,

Which one would you get at Traditional Woodworker? The first few look like the same saw at Garrett Wade. I would be using it on drywood for firewood.

Thanks,

Geoff

I like the German made 36 incher, 4th. one down. More robust teeth pattern on it and some have the optional handle for a second user.

www.crosscutsaw.com I looked at these some years ago and wish I'd bought one when they were a heck of a lot cheaper. I'd like something in a 48-54 inch length.

I don't know about this particular saw you're inquiring about but I have dealt with Garrett Wade quite a bit over the years. I've bought a lot of sharpening equipment from them. I've bought many different tools of all types and I will say that I have not ever been dis-satisfied with anything I've bought from Garrett Wade.

They don't seem to carry anything cheap or inferior from my experiences with them. I've heard that the Japanese woodworking saws that they sell are top notch. Also their shipping is fast and efficient.
