This will have to be an in progress as it obviously isn't finished. The blade is my own 4 bar turkish twist, 4.5" long.

I haven't started work on the handle yet, but here is a sketch of what I intend to make. I have recently become enamored with Rococo style artwork. It really fits my artistic taste and it makes sense to me. Lots of freedom in shapes and the use of acanthus leaves, shells and other natural shapes, continuous curves and strong borders. I just love it.

I only sketch half of the handle when it will be symmetrical as this one will be.

The inlays in the center of the handle will be either tiger eye or lapis. The borders will be gold as will the background surrounding the stone inlays. Either the dark blue lapis or gold tiger eye will look nice with 22k gold background. I am also considering a pearl on the finial to go with the shell motif

I will post more pics as work continues.

I would say your off to a good start I love the steel I look forward to seeing more of the handle work.

Oh boy, let's see lots of pics of the carving and inlaying.

(love the 4-bar Bailey)

Realy really nice. Great looking piece of steel. I would go for the lapis, but that's only because that is my favorite stone:cool::thumbup:

Wow -I really like the damscus pattern in the blade. Handle design and concept looks to be very impressive indeed.

Of course, this now has me pondering what other type of blade I'd like to see that 4-bar turkish twist on.
