Gary is a standup guy and I couldn't be happier!!

Thanks Gary,

Brett

Wonderful leather work! What type of belt loop on the back? Fold over or sewn on ? Would love to see a picture of the back side also.

It looks as if Gary spends quite a bit of time on shipping also.

Hi Ken,

I believe it's a sewn loop that runs the length of the sheath. I haven't received it yet,but will take lots of pics once I do.

Thanks!
Brett

Thanks Brett and Ken, I took those shots as you can see just before
packing it up in the priority mail box, Brett saw my sheath for a custom Buck 110
and asked for something similar for this rascal, nicely done by Bob Picklesimer.

Here are some images of that 110 sheath that shows how the backside is done
basically one piece of leather, wrapped snugly around the knife for good retention
and then the belt loop is folded down tightly against the back and stitched along
the bottom, this allows you to tilt or raise the sheath when you go to sit down or
draw the knife.

And that Schrade, nice thinly ground blades too, should make a great cutter,

edited to say, yes Ken, I like things to be packed as if I were going to receive them
so I do spend a little bit more time to make things secure, I get some foam from our
receiving dept, they save bits and pieces for me and they work well for this type of
thing, I have to shave them down to fit the box, but that's ok, I usually find something
to cut them up with ;)

Brett you will love it Garys sheaths are absolutely gourgeous Quality, fit and finish. And a true gentleman to do business with.

Gary's work is just great. I assure you that you will not be disappointed.

Gary,

Thanks for posting some pictures of one of your back sides and how you handle the belt loop. Very nice.

When I was learning how to make sheaths:grumpy: , I was told that the backside speaks volumes for the quality of the overall sheath. Yours looks fantastic!

Congrats to both you and Brett

man, I could have so much fun with this post.....backsides, and all...:)

But seriously, I've wanted a G2 sheath for sometime. now I have one!

Brett

Brett,

G-2 sheaths rock!. As Gary once told me, 'you could hang upside down with the knife in my sheath and the knife won't fall out'.. You can literally hear the sheath suck the knife into it with a  little thunk sound and you know it is secure on your belt and it ain't going nowhere! His sheaths remind me more like the feel of hand tooled gun leather -- holsters more than they do knife sheaths.

I had him make one for one of my Trapper patterns a while back.. Extremely pleased with it and wear it all the time!.

Thanks guys and SunnyD, that hangin' upside down stuff is for
knives that lend themselves to these types of sheaths, some knives
just don't have as good a contour to benefit from that, the trappers
do and the one Brett has with the rise in the peak of the blade made
it also snap into place nicely :)

WOW! Man, now I'm REALLY EXCITED!!!!!

:D

OK Gary,

I didn't mean to miss-speak. Truly, I was just discussing my experience in regard to the project you completed for me and the Trapper pattern specifically..

Thanks for making your point.

well, have no fear Gary! I'm 5 7 and 240. No hanging upside down for me. When I do, my belly shifts and there's the danger of being knocked unconscious.....;)

Thanks again!

I know Anthony, just didn't want someone elses sheath not have a nice
snap and wonder what's going on ;) but yours worked great, probably
the best so far I've worked with is the 110, of course at their price it's
hard to justify getting a custom sheath for it, unless it's also a Custom
110, then it makes sense, otherwise the 110's are inexpensive work horses!

and you didn't miss-speak really, I just wanted to expound, as my speech
teacher would often say, I had a gift for gab back in school...:)

Wow, Wow, and WOW! on all counts!

I've wanted one of Gary's sheaths for a while too, maybe if i get the custom i want soon, I'll have a knife worth the investment..

In a similar vein, here's one of Gary's sheathes hugging my Reese Bose "Sowbelly":

I love seeing good leatherwork, and, imho, Gary's work is known among the top knife forums as some of the best.

Great stuff your showing Brett, Elliott, Sunny, and Gary.

Gary, the way your sheath hugs that stag 110 is terrific. I gotta say...a custom stag 110 in a G2 sheath...does it really get much better than that?

Thanks guys and Elliot, nice knife TOO !

The custom 110 is a great knife, BG42 blade, nickle bolsters and nice stag
it does the trick, very handy, here's a shot of the knife herself, a beauty!

( I put some leather inside the knife inorder to keep the blade at that position, otherwise she'd have
slammed shut by that point ;) )

I have a Buck 110 with BG-42 blade that I got several years ago online.
A really nice knife though the green "french wood or frenchwood" scales (some sort of laminate I guess) could be a bit more interesting.
Still a heck of a knife at a very nice price though it can make your pants fall down! ;)
