Wow, a jelly-roller? I've seen power twisting and power rolling, but that's new! What's the center bar/mandrel made of? More damascus, and it stays in there?

I was eating some ice cream and a video of Bill Burke and Tom Ferry making damascus came up on my monitor and I started laughing and screaming simultaneously and ice cream shot out my nose.

Damn!!!!

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

Well I made it home from the Gathering. It was a great weekend. At gatherings for the past three or maybee four years we have constructed and ran Kodai type furnaces producing some three hundred plus pounds of tahmahagane. so this year instead of making more steel we decided that everyone should forge some of previous years product into something. In attendance were, Gary House, our host. Tom Ferry MS, Jon Christiansen MS, John Conway, Kelly Cupples, John Davis, Daniel O'Malley, Myself and a few visitors. Kelly Donated a few hundred pounds of steel (180/15n20) which was almost completely forged into Damascus. I took a mulitude of pictures with my phone however almost none of them turned out very well. looks like the dumba$$ holding the camera had the shakes and didn't have the image stabilization on so they are all blurry.

Thank you Bill, I enjoy the friendship of these gatherings so much. The knowledge passed around is tremendous. Besides Damascus forged I think we had 6 swords, several spears, large knives, a throwing star, a Turkish twist kitchen knife (guess who) and other forged things. This may be my last large one. Forging 10 to15 hours a day for three days can wear one out.
Gary
