Youtube is great for finding cool old rock and roll video clips. I stumbled upon this one of Gary Moore doing his song "Don't Believe a Word" with most of the members of Thin Lizzy backing him up. You old timers will remember that Gary was actually in Thin Lizzy for a while.

Well anyway, the song starts off slow and moody, just like it is on Gary Moore's solo album "Back On The Streets", but at about the 3:00 mark they kick it into overdrive like on "Live and Dangerous", and it is a true glory of late 70's hard rock. You can practically hear Gary and Scott Gorham screaming in pain as their fretboards burst into flames.

Amazing guitar playing on exhibition here.

Gary has a wonderfully soulful & bluesy sound. If you like that, try his CD 'Ballads and Blues,' for more of the same. The man's a poet, as well as a gifted musician.

Thanks Torz, what a great way to wake this morning.Gary Moore is indeed a guitar God and i think most people dont even know Phil Lynott or just what an all round cool vocalist/musician he was.Another taken before his time.

:D
Man that guy had energy.

To front that band AND host "To Tell the Truth" simultaneously was just plain crazy! :)

Thank you Torz it was good hear...

The clip was from The Old Grey Whistle Test, which was shown on UK television at 10.00 pm on a weekday. The show showcased many unknown bands, or bands, early in their career. Not sure who the lady was at the end of the clip but the show was hosted by 'whispering' Bob Harris, a bearded, and very knowledgeable older guy.

An 'Old Grey' was a cockney term for a cleaning lady, and it was said that at one record company, they used to put new band's music onto a tape loop and play it over the office background music system. The cleaning ladies, cleaned after hours, and if the old greys came out of the office whistling the tune, they reckoned it would be a hit. It passed the 'old grey whistle test'!
