I saw a special on "Boys' Toys" (gadgets) on a cable channel (History Ch?)last night which showed the knife carried by Gary Powers when his U-2 was shot down in the USSR. I thought it was supposed to be a "Bird and Trout" Randall but the show said it was a SAK. Say it ain't so.

I saw the same show, toothed. I think it's entirely possible that he had both. The show didn't detail everything that he carried. The focus of that portion was SAKs.

Just another cheap communist trick. Quite obvious they switched it and wanted Powers and the USA to look badly. I think the Randall Model 8 is now in the room with the crown jewels at the Moscow state museum or wherever they keep that stuff. /// Rhett

Brian, I'm thinking the same as you on this.

Brett, the knife should be a display item in a Moscow state museum; however, I wouldn't be surprised if it is now being used by a bureaucrat on hunting trips. (Who can blame 'em?) ;)
