what are you guys using for propane flex line?

I got my 100 gal tank set up and filled today :)
I have my quick connect (gas rated)
I want to move this thing out under the car port in the summer
and back inside in the winter..
and hook the grill up too :D

what size tubing are you using or would use for a distance? say 50',,,
3/8" or 1/2"
and what size regulator? for the Forge..
I'm thinking the one for the house stove top is not big enough for that distance?

I'll be going back a forth from 15' to 50'

I also have some 1/4 hyd line, for flex line,, that would be touph stuff if the ID is big enouph? it makes great air line :D Thanks

Dan I use rubber hose that is specifically designed for propane. Most hose's will dry and crack with propane use but this will not. You dhould be able t get it any just about any commercial propane dealer. I can set my bottle outside the door or anywhere within about 25 ft. of the forge. I use an acetylene regulator for my 100# propane bottles.

Dan, I did the same thing Bill did and purchased some propane hose and then had the local welding shop put fittings onto the hose. My hose is 35' and my forge portable so I can move it out near the doors for ventilation and still be covered when the weather is bad. I use a Johnson Controls propane regulator purchased from Mankel Forge. It handles up to 25 psi and runs about $60 - $70. I only use 5 - 7 psi for my forge. BTW - when we converted the house to propane several years ago I had a separate HP propane line run into the garage (my shop). It bypasses the regulator from our 500# tank. I installed the JC regulator in the shop and run the hose from there.

Thanks Bill.
where this is a 100 gal tank, not the 100 pounder it won't be moving anywhere soon :) the forge will be moving first,
I didn't think about a acetylene regulator. that would solve the reg problem But
I'm not sure how the delivery guys will like that on the tank though? :)

I have one reg I want to look into, it's an adjustable one sold by the out-fit I bought the tank from. can you tell me about the max
inch's of mercury or pounds of pressure or volume,, I'd need to regulate to the forge..?

I want to hook this thing up right,, I'll have to tee off from the tank because the tank will supply the house also,,,
I have the regulator for that now, and I'm sure it wont supply what I'm going to need for the forge ,
it's a two burner pedestal blower type (old)
the electronic ign/ temp control that I have to put on the forge, is rated for up to 3 pounds..

so I guess I'm asking if
3 pounds will do it for most average size forges..??
thanks for the info... :)
