Who else is experiencing Gas shortages? Only couple gas stations have gas, police are keeping the peace at those stations, lines down the street.

This is problematic for a lot of things. They are saying the problem won't be resolved till the end of the week. I may postpone my work till next week.

I'm supposed to pressurewash a deck wendsday but I just put the extra gas I had into my car.

Anytime everyone in an area tries to get gas at the same time there will be a shortage supply be damned. That's the real issue. According to my 24 pump QT gasoline sales by day are pretty even over the week with weekend slightly higher, but turned into everyone getting gas on Saturday and Sunday and they ran out until Monday.

Pipeline broke, media reports shortening supplies of gasoline Georgia to up the east coast, pipeline to be fixed in a week. Public hears "WERE RUNNING OUT OF GASOLINE" and everyone runs to get gas and even stock up with gas cans as well regardless of need. The public has caused the empty station tanks, not the pipeline break. Trucks still can and are moving gasoline to shore up supplies along with tankers from texas to the northeast. Panic buying is all it is, a story where no story exist for more than a week. Even worse public is showing on Facebook and reporting only all the stations out of gas perpetuating the panic. 2 in my area were out with the Sat/Sun rush with over 20 stations within 10 miles, but back in business on Monday AM. Utter nonsense, had no issue buying gas today except for a longer line of stupid people in front of me. Buy gas every Monday (lasts about a week till 1/8-1/4 tank) with this Monday being no exception.

That Colonial pipeline runs from Houston on up toward Philadelphia. The break as I understand it was on the main gasoline line. We are having shortages here as well and I have reduced my driving to necessary driving only. No idle trips to Lowes or Walmart unless there is something I specifically need. This started on friday (9/16) here noticeably with some stations raising their prices about $0.30 from the $1.90's.

Fortunately, I had filled up both of my vehicles on Wednesday and Thursday at the normal pricing. The only difference for me so far was I was going to head to Smoky Mt NP for a day's exploring and decided to pass due to potential problematic access to fuel. The newspaper is saying that this will continue to the end of this week. I expect longer personally. I have two 5 gal cans of gas in my garage, so I still have that or I can head out in search of gasoline. Don't really want to do that as others need the available fuel more than me at the moment.

This pipeline breach only goes to show just how vulnerable we are to disruptions in the normal flow of food, fuel, and so forth. There really is only about a day or two's supply stockpiled at any one time.

Many gas stations are totally out of fuel in my area. I feel sure there is some panic buying. But I have not participated in that yet.

The 500 ft bypass pipeline was completed yesterday and fuel is supposed to flow through the new line today. So, the shortages should be minimized in a few days.

There was initial panic buying. Now most local stations have gas. Costco never ran out and price never changed

Thanks for the updates. I put gas in my work van and the Prius yesterday. I waited about 15 minutes. Not so bad. I should be good till the weekend and this gets resolved.

I suspect that things won't be back to normal for about a week regardless of whether the pipe line is pushing gasoline through it in quantity. The pipe was a 36" diameter pipe. The pipeline there consists of two 36" lines; one for distillates and one for gasoline. Colonial said they would be moving gasoline last night (versus a more general "yesterday") as the testing and approval of the bypass line took some time yesterday morning.

More stations are totally "out" of fuel today in my area. The tanker trucks will be running hard for a while once the fuel gets to the distribution centers.

Noticed today gas prices are dropping back toward last weeks pricing. Looks like stations are getting fuel now. Noticed one with no fuel, but there were stations next to it that had fuel. Lots of customers at Walmart Murphy Oil at $2.09/gal.
