Anyone actually use one of these successfully?

It looks the business.

Under $20 delivered. I know that I can use other tools, that I already have, to shutoff gas and water service but this looks like it would be easier to keep handy on the ready-line during an emergency like an earthquake.

I once used a large crescent wrench with a large screwdriver in the handle hole to shut off my water service when the water heater stayed on and the house filled with steam while I was sleeping. Luckily I woke before it blew, got the tools from the garage (after running around like a panicked fire drill comedy clown) and shut off the water service while hot water was squirting even at the switch box near the street? I opened the faucets, threw the breaker on the water heater and later installed two relief valves on the new water heater plumbing.

I asked a vendor of this tool for measurements of the openings so I could compare them to my gas and water valves in order to judge if they might fit each other before I buy one. Here is the answer: "The slot at the top of the tool measures 1/2" X 1 9/16", the long slot measures 1/2" X 6 1/8" and the water valve slot measures 1/2" X 3/4". This tool was designed to fit valves used today." So 1/2 inch is the critical measurement.
