Gasket to prevent zippos from drying up?

Just wondering if someone has heard of one? Something like a silicone skin for a mp3 player, but fit for a zippo and providing a good seal.
You can use electrical tape (I tested it - it holds fluid for at least a year) but that isn't really reusable, Ditto w/ heat shrink.

Ranger bands: a short section of innertube, slides on or off pretty easily, demonstrated to keep the fluid unevaporated for months.

Come on. Never buy Ranger Bands. Just get the largest tire inner tube you can find and cut them yourself. You adjust the size by the width you cut the bands. The more narrow, the more they will stretch.

Not in my experience. When I tested the ranger bands I found the Zippos were dry a month and a half later.

A lot of people rail against Zippo lighters because of the fuel evaporation. Why not carry a small can of lighter fuel? It's small and relatively light weight - problem solved.

I learned the bycycle inner tube trick on these boards. Keeps the Zippo working for several months.

You could seal it in a food saver, but you would only get to open it once. EDC Depot and County Comm sell the little peanut lighters that are made like a spy capsule. All said and done, I would just pack some mini Bic's.

yep the innertube doesnt work well for me either...
it just slows the evap :)

fuel evap doesnt bother me with zippo... you can still start many fires when the fuel is gone in a survival situation. you have a bunch of cotton tinder with residual amounts of fuel + you can pack several flints under the pad. its like a sparklite :D:thumbup:
