Anyone have experience with the Gatco Micro-X Pocket Sharpener? I'm still looking for a sharpener for EDC knives. Looks pretty cool and inexpensive, but will it do a good job for sharpening EDC blades? Still looking at the AG Russell Field Sharpener but the "blunt points" that happen from crock sticks has scared me. Or would the Meyerco Sharpen-It will do a better job? Or a DMT Diafold. Choices Choices Choices...

Thanks!

Ive used one of the micro x's a few times. Its mainly for small blades, such as a sak. Its not bad, but personally I prefer to use a strop and save the blades.

Ahhh... Then what do you use to sharpen and hone?

Don't waste your money. Or, I should say don't inflict a cheap-a$$ sharpening gadget on a good knife. I tried one of those things and it was pretty useless. I invested in a DMT, a good black Arkansas stone and a strop. Unlike the Micro-X, they will get a knife very sharp.

Did you specifically use the Micro-X, or any other slot type with ceramic rods, or did you use one of the (cheaper) tungsten slot sharpeners? I'm not sure how ceramic rods in a slot sharpener would be too different from rods in a wooden base (crock sticks).

Oh, it was definitely the Gatco Micro-X, not one of the cheaper ones - although the term "cheaper", when applied to pieces of shyte like these starts to lose it's meaning pretty quick. Don't take my word for it, go ahead and buy one; they are cheap, so you won't feel too bad when you realize you'd have had more fun lighting a cigar with the money.:)
