The camp is looking good..... Headed up to weed eat, blow out and debug the crapper, check the supplies and etc.......

One major problem is the drought.... If we do not get appreciable rain we will have to do it all at the house.... Soooo, bring a cot or a thick pad...... We have two big overheads at the shop, two big porches and the back viewing porch....... We have done this before and although it lacks the primitive splendor of Beckerhead Camp it does work and it is certainly more, uh-intimate....... It is all good...... There are a few hanging spots around the house for hammocks...... If the house option must be used we will at least have the fire pit........

Pork on Saturday, maybe a beef stew on Friday......

If you want to, please bring a bag of ice, a flat of water, and a bag of hardwood lump charcoal..... Bring something to add to the breakfast all in one, your lunch stuff and munchies......

Sloan's Shell station, grocery, hardware, feed and seed emporium at the Junction of SR 360 And HiWay 411 is your last place for fuel, smokes, groceries, drinks and beer..... It is 22 minutes away...... If you need to use the cell phone do it at Sloan's. Cell service will be spotty at best from there to the house....

Should be a ton of fun......

How are the buggies? After the chigger bites I got last time, I'm planning a liberal application of permethrin before I debark.

Permethrin is our friend, our very GOOD friend.... I just juiced the weekend's socks and trou and hats.... E

Water? Why would we bring a beer ingredient when they sell finished beer at Sloan's?

Just did my Costco run...

I'll have a 15lb bag of spuds, 3lbs of keilbasa, tortillas, biscotti, and a flat of water to throw into the potluck.

Would it be possible for those with the means to traverse to the top to set up there for sleeping purposes with absolutely no fires, flames, cigarettes etc? Just a suggestion, your house your rules boss!

Hey Sliice...... On a case by case basis, Yes..... In your case as I regard you as a responsible and trustworthy adult the answer is yes if, accompanied by your wife and daughter....LOL....., Chance and Laura have the treehouse staked out already.... We are looking at drought until Saturday night and then T storms......

Will send some bacon as just left those parts a week ago, Northeast wid da surf and Turf, Have a Blast as am sure u all will do,
Someday

sooooo Jelly, but i'm writing my own ticket at work thus far, and have some things to do

I'll bring stuff to do a cobbler in my cast iron dutch oven one night. I only have one dutch oven, but I'll bring enough stuff for a second batch. Hopefully there will be some more cast iron around.

I'm happy to bring things to contribute for any other collaborative meals, but I'm a newbie. Someone tell me what else to bring and I'll pick it up.

I must attribute your kinds words to my wife, she domesticated me a long time ago. If I were alone, I'd probably flop down wherever I end up at whatever hour lol. Thanks Ethan!

I have a virgin 6qt Dutch oven I can bring. I could use a lesson on cobbler.

I'll bring my usual cabbage dish. It'll probably go better with the pork than the stew.

I can pick up some bread for the stew if this isn't already covered

Awesome. I must confess that baking is not my forte. But my wife is an expert and she taught me a really simple "Cobbler for dummies" type recipe. It won't be fancy, but it'll be tasty.

Also, I'm bringing an ESEE Junglas and a Terava Jaeger 140 that I am currently in possession of via passarounds from another forum. Anyone is welcome to try them out. Make sure to find me if you are particularly interested.

cool - I'm curious about that Jaeger 140.

It's a sweet knife. Probably the best value for the money I've found. It's also reminiscent of a Becker in some ways: Solid utilitarian design, affordable but really high quality materials, and well-contoured handles. It seems to me like the kind of Scandinavian style knife that Ethan would design.
