At 7 p.m. tonight it was a cool 90 °F so I figured it'd be a good time to give the BK9 the workout its been waiting for. I grabbed a log and had my mind set on smashing the crap out of it until the BK9 showed it who its daddy was...

I ended up taking about 20 mins (with a few short resting periods) to accomplish my mission. I had a ton of fun but I can tell I'll be feeling it in my back and shoulder's in the morning. I had to switch which hand I was chopping with and I can tell my left shoulder/arm will be a little sore for a day or two, but my right side will be fine because its used to it.

BK9 + log + blister = A dang good time!

Yeah it was a big log. I figured I'd go for broke and really try to do something big. After last night I'm pretty sure the BK9 is going to last longer than I do.

Chopping a log that large with a knife may not be super practical but it shows you can do it. As you can see from the pics the log has about a 7 inch diameter.

Nice! How was the edge when you were done?

It was actually still pretty good. There is no sign of any dents or chips and its still pretty sharp. I was still able to slice through printer paper after I was done chopping. Before I chopped it was slicing through paper pretty well and after it was a little tougher to do but I still could.

One of my pet peeves on this forum is I see people say "Oh look! I just cut through a Abrams tank and my blade is still shaving sharp" but they are shaving with a part of the blade that never made any contact with anything during chopping/slicing/stabbing. When I cut the paper after I was done chopping I did it with the part of the blade that was making contact with the wood the whole time.

I'm going to get out in the next few days and do some more damage to that log! :)

WOW:eek:

That 9 chewed through that log pretty well, you gotta wear some gloves for a workout like that.

Great pics by the way:thumbup:

"Yeah, but it only took me....."

J/K. I have always wondered about how long it would take to get through a log that size. Now I know.:D
