Thought I would post this for those who thought they might like a mini version, it's not hard to do. No power tools were used, although they will be if I do my other one.

This has been in progress for more than a year.
For a long time, it was stuck at this stage.

I liked it, felt good, handled better, but was still big and clumsy for my work knife. A recent thread on the Spyderco site forum inspired me to continue on. Here's where it's at today.

Compared to NIB.

I'll use it like this for a while and decide if I want to shrink it more.

I don't think the tail looks too funky. How's your grip now? A lot of Spyderco's could go through a process like this and become incredible, in my opinion at least.

Nonetheless man, you did something few else would attempt and I'll commend you for it. Call it fear or hesitation, I wouldn't have the balls to chop up one of my knives like this.

I do like the size parameters on the mini more than the full sized for what I like to carry. It just looks like it'd be a much better/easier EDC blade.

I mod many of my knives.
Yours is not my thing; I would probably have kept the full blade length and the full handle length and just gone less tall with both and thinner in the blade spine e.g., my Cold Steel Ti Lite IV with blade ground full flat to 1.9 mm at the spine.

Still I enjoy seeing what you like and your thoughts on it.
THANK YOU

Thanks guys, I thought at first the tail looked funky too, but it's required right now to cover that length of blade (3.1"). As a bonus, it makes a great pinky hook. :)
The sloping back nests in my palm and makes it easy to push the point in tough stuff to start a cut. Before, I had to slide my hand back, which felt awkward. Overall it feels really good and secure in hand with a variety of grips.

My plan is to continue thinning the spine, shortening the height of the blade to make it more slender, and shortening the blade and handle more. But before I do, will use it as is for a while to make sure that's what I want.

There's not many knives of mine that haven't been at least a little modified, especially ones I use.

What if you took the blade down a little more.
Say Delica length.

Maybe it would give you more leeway on the tail

That's what I was thinking to, maybe taking the blade down another 1/4".
