Spyderco Gayle Bradley 2, Longer than GB1, Thinner, Lock bar has less Jimping, Liners are thinner, Choil slightly deeper, Action not as smooth as GB1 out of the box..... Overall nice knife though!

Thanks for the comparison photos.

IMO the 2 is just not as sexy. I think it has to do with the curves and the choil.

It doesn't have a choil as Spyderco would call it. The choil is when the finger groove is integrated into the blade. That is one of the main differences.

Thanks for the comparison pics. I am not seeing the slightly deeper choil though. :)

Haha, that's what I was going to say...

Also, looks like the lock bar may be easier to disengage on the GB2 because you might get more leverage on it. Looks like the jimping access area is placed much further toward the blade than on the GB1. Also combined with the thinner liners.

kmhawaiidh, does the GB2 feel noticeably easier to disengage than the GB1? I've read that elsewhere...

Side note - you should post up in the bicycle thread here in the off topic area. Would like to see what you ride. :)

Where is the Bicycle Thread

For me, the lockbar on the GB2 is just a tad bit more difficult to disengage than on the GB. Actually, "difficult" isn't really the right word, as both are relatively easy to unlock. On the GB there seem to be more "surface area" for my thumb to make contact with (maybe because it's thicker?) and is a little more accessible. On the GB2, there is a specific area nearest to the end/edge of the lock bar that I can get good purchase on. Granted, I've only had the GB2 for a couple of days, so it may be a muscle memory issue.

The Bradley 2 is nice, but it just isn't as smooth as all my other Original Bradley's...... I'm going to Spyderco tomorrow to see if others feel the same.

Thanks for the great comparison pictures.

I think I'll skip the 2 and keep an eye out for the 1 on the Exchange.

Closes with ease using the pad of the thumb, I find the GB2 to be easier to close than the GB1.

Here is a video I just shot...

Somewhat unsubstantiated theory: maybe the GB2 doesn't have the pivot pushing? Mine sure doesn't feel like it does.
