What is with the perpetual backorder situation on these Gayle Bradleys? Are they just that popular? Seems like they hit the market then evaporated almost instantly. When they actually do become available, does anyone know if there will be a slight upgrade? I vaguely recall talk of some minor changes on the next batch. Didn't know the next batch was gonna be in another calendar year....

What's the lowdown on these?

Seemed like it was supposed to be a deeper choil, greater linerlock release access and improved jimping. Can't find the thread however. Been searchiing both forums to no avail. :(

Come to think of it, all of Spyderco's Taiwan models seem to be getting hard to come by... Did I miss something?? Lots of the new release stuff has been from Seki. Hmmm.....

Not sure what the dealio is either. Was told they'd be back in stock from one website within a couple of weeks, though that was 4 weeks ago or so. Didn't know they were modifying the knife though. I assume that is the cause of the delay.

They ARE that popular and for good reason.
My GB has outperformed all of my other blades in the utilitarian arena.
I'm getting a couple more just so I'll be set for this lifetime.
I hope a smaller GB comes out. Love the current one but it sure fits in my tool bag a lot better than it fits in my pocket.
I think the original design was supposed to be skeletized somewhat... could be wrong.
Maybe batch 2 will be lighter?

Hand-Tools.com might still have some if you're looking for one now.

They are listed as in stock at Hand-Tools.com

I could easily be wrong, but I don't remember any discussion of those changes for this model. There was discussion of a distant future second version with a different sized blade. ???

FWIW, I just got one from Bushcraft Northwest--great price and quick delivery--and it's terrific. Easily a better deal and nicer knife than the Ritter M2 Griptilian I bought a while back and was stolen out of my car.

Worth waiting for and my favorite Spyderco yet. I'll never sell this one!

I really want to like this knife, but for some reason it just doesn't appeal to me. Maybe I need to get one in hand. Until then, you guys have one less person competing for the few that are available.

Admittedly, the handle material/shape isn't all that amazing in my eyes, but the blade shape/grind to me is fantastico. Similarly with the stretch CF, the handle is a bit thin, but the everything else is good.

It's a little funky looking. The blade grind, steel, thick liner and fit/finish make up for any shortfall in looks.

It does look a bit "different". The squareish front of the handle puts me off a tad.
Is a tad heavy.
BUT, it all seems to come together. I love mine.
And that f/f....AWESOME.

I'm assuming the shortage is just due to brisk sales. When it came out it got 99.9% positive feedback and just SOLD! Which pretty much quarantees more will be available soon.

I suspect it was the availability of M4 that delayed this one and the M4 Military. Both are due out about the same time now.

The look of the knife is kinda weird to me. I went ahead and got one after reading tons of praise about it.
After holding it and using it at work I see the wisdom in this design.
I'm not a 'tactical' guy (WTF is 'tactical'... my foot?), I just want a worker blade.
This blade is made for a worker.
I can push, pull, slice and chop very comfortably with it. Just about every other knife I've used has a struggle area somewhere.
I've encountered no areas where the GB has 'fought' me at work.
Just a beaut of a blade to use.
