Has anyone ever had experience trying to lighten the liner on the spyderco Gayle Bradley by drilling out some holes?

No experience but I do know that the newer version has had both liners lightened. You might even find someone who wanted to trade. Wish I knew more.

I know I read that someone had done it and was happy with the the results (they had done a very good job). It was soon after they came out, so a while back. I would like to lighten mine, but I want to wait until I get a drill press- no telling how bad I could mess it up with a portable!

This is true. The second run of the Gayle Bradley folder has been lightened to some extent. Personally, I do not think that it needed it, some people are really bothered by a whole 5.# ounces in their pocket, I'm not one of them though. It was designed with that kind of weight in mind, as a heavy duty folder. If it's too heavy then it may not be the appropriate tool for that particular task or clothing option. ;)

I don't mind the weight myself, I just don't like the balance- way too handle heavy for me.
