GB 2 vs Advocate

Ok guys, probably a silly post but here goes,
I've long been exposed to the GB 2 avatars, recommendations, and personal testimonials. Recently I've been caving toward adding to my collection. I know, can't go wrong with that choice, right?
In the Gayle Bradley spectrum I've also been debating the orange peel Advocate.
LOVE the blade shape, and I'm a sucker for "fidgetability" as discussed ad nauseum in a recent general thread. Can I get any compare and contrast with a knife that has an established following to a new arrival flipper from the same designer..
I know from Nick Shabazz the blade tip on the advocate is questionably close to the edge of the handle when closed, and the GB 2 isn't an addictively easy fun knife to deploy but still very well executed. But that's all I got.
Cheers

Oh and does anyone have an opinion/elaboration on a framelock knife without a steel insert? Are Taichung's carbidized? Is it mostly placating people and not realized within ten years of flippage? Taking CRK Sebenza as an example with no insert but associated with longevity.

PS can only budget for one, I know, ideally buy both

I thought the scales on the Advocate would have more texture but they feel slippery in comparison to my GB2.

I didn't like the GB1; so, despite the (imo) improved aesthetics, I didn't buy a GB2 (the things I disliked the most were unchanged... sure, I could have fixed them myself; but I guess I just didn't care enough to put the time and energy into it). I bought, and like, the Advocate.
You may be like many others that love the GBs, though

In all honesty the GB2 is going to make a better work knife and do almost anything type of knife, but the fidgetability will not be there with the GB2. But the Advocate, is oh so good looking! 7385FB19-1E06-417E-91EB-AAC2CF3781F3.jpeg

I had the Advocate and I found the scales to be slick despite the "orange peel." I would also not describe the Advocate as having "fidgetability" because the lockbar bites into the thumb when disengaging. It quickly becomes uncomfortable.
I also tried the GB2 and didn't like it. I found the lock difficult to disengage. By contrast, I find the GB1 lock easier although it's also not one that I would cycle repeatedly.

The GB2 balance in hand is probably the best of the two, and great in use and carry. The sharp hump of the lockbar on the Advocate ruins the fidgetability for me like AF said. The GB1 is one of my favorite all time beaters, but I'd recommend the GB2 over it any day for most users. The GB2 is still a great deal and can be had pretty damn cheap used on the Exchange. I put a deep carry clip on mine and it carries like a dream.

I have GB1, GB2 and the Advocate I also have the GB custom the Advocate is based on in PSF27. To me GB and the Advocate are completely different animals. The GB is more robust and a knife I would want in any situation, the Advocate is more light duty and lighter and easier to carry. I love both knives. It just depends on what situation you are looking to cover.

I'm less likely to pull out my GB1's for hard use, as the handle feels good in hand, but it feels like your hand could slip down the handle and onto the blade. It's not a very positive stop handle in terms of using the knife for stabbing type tasks. But for slicing, I love the handle, especially the 50/50 choil. It appears the GB2 is much better stabbing type tasks, but no more finger choil for choking up on the grip.

Is it possible for you to tell me more, however trivial, since you own both?
Thanks for all replies
The Advocate is the only knife that I’ve pulled out of my pocket & has actually slipped out of my hand (fell on a linoleum floor); never done this with the GB2

When using the Spyderco hole to open, the GB2 seems smoother to me

Thanks for all the feedback everyone. Definitely gives me a lot to think about!
To be honest, and I know there's not a lot of logic to this, but after hearing your feedback and rethinking the price point for this purchase I'm now debating between the GB 2 and the s110v UKPK.
Two different animals, I know. They both seem like very high value purchases though. Love the originality of the GB 2 plus bladeshape. I live by the beach though so I'm hoping if I keep it oiled and maintained the m4 won't be a problem. On the other hand I love me a FFG Glesser. Arghhh
