Here's my pride and joy, a GB felling axe that cut its tooth out in the Alaska wilds:

Does anyone know why they don't make the full size felling axe anymore?

I was curious about them for awhile but the bit Jim Aston hasd was way too thick for me. How is that one?

It's about ideal for boreal forest small timber work, from the various spruces to birch and aspen. I don't know how well it would do on serious hardwoods. I would prefer to dull it down a tad, or actually just use another axe. The edge on this one can be made extremely sharp.

is that the american felling axe? if so i heard they may remake it at some point. I had wanted to get one bu tinstead got the double bit. what do you use to keep it sharp?

I take it in for a good wheel sharpening every few months and just do rough honing in the field. It holds an edge pretty well as long as I stick to softer woods.
