Over the years, my wife has become accustomed to seeing me pull some pretty big knives our of triangular boxes. So she expressed some surprise at the latest arrival. “What do you call that, a pocket knife?”, she asked (in what some might have thought was a sarcastic tone). “No, my dear,” I replied (in what some might have thought was a corresponding tone), “that is a Gentleman’s Belt Knife.” “Hmmph!”, she replied, “Obviously not meant for you”, meaning me. “Well”, I countered, “Santa knows a gentleman when he sees one, I guess.”. (There was more, but that’s the part that can be printed in a family forum).
At any rate, this is a really cool addition to the HI lineup. At 8.45 ounces including the well-made sheath, it’s a very comfortable little carry kukri for those occasions when a larger blade might be just a bit too much. I really like the handle, with its smooth pommel swell that just locks into my grip. Anyone looking for a discreet, civilized EDC would do well to take a look at the GBK.
