Hi all! New member from Australia.

I originally joined to sell a few knives of mine, and I would still like to sell some of my knives, but as I non subscribed member and as someone who did not make the knives, I will have to content my self with looking around the forum and having fun. :D

Thanks all!

Hey there and welcome to Bladeforums! It's a good place to hang around, chat, meet people, share experiences and learn :)

Welcome! There are quite a few BladeForums members from Australia.
What town are you near? I'm in Singleton right now for work, and am frequently in the Wollongong, Mudgee, and Mackay areas.

Hi RattusRattus, I'm also a new member like you. Upgrade your members ship to knifemaker, Gold... so that it will be more fun :-)

Bob, I haven't been to Mudgee and Mackay, but we often go to Wollongong with my family. It's a very nice area to relax specially on the white beach :-)
It's only an hour drive away from me :-)

I'm still in Singleton until the end of the week. Then I plan to spend a couple days exploring the Blue Mountains before catching the flight back to the US.

I've spent a bit of time in Sydney. Nice clean city, but the traffic is horrible so I stay away as much as possible. Still, one of the most interesting Aussie experiences for me was being beneath the Sydney bridge at dusk when the bats emerged and began circling the historic stonework abutments.
We intended once to visit the Sydney Aquarium, but found a pub with Kilkenny beer on tap and never made it any farther. :)

Our 'office' is in Campbelltown, a suburb of Sydney that's easily accessible from the airport.

Wollongong is nice, and I have really enjoyed exploring the many national parks in that area and along the Illawara Escarpment.

My most favorite area of Australia might be the Bawley Coast area, south of Wollongong and between Ulladulla and Bateman's Bay. I was there when the weather was cool so there weren't many other visitors, and the coast is much less developed and commercialized than in some other areas.

Nice pics Bob, if your are planning to go to the blue mountains I would recommend http://www.fairmontresort.com.au/. It's a very nice hotel & resort.
Every time I bring my family there we only hang out at that place. This Saturday if the weather is good we might go to Terrigal or Wollongong.

By the way, are you still planning to come back here in Australia after you fly back to the US?

Yes, I am in Australia frequently for work (radio imaging geophysics for the coal mines). This is my 15th trip total, and the third this year. The next time will probably be in January, to Mudgee.

I'm not ready to leave my New Mexico home and move Down Under permanently, but I'd be sad if I could never visit again.

Everyone in the States that I know wishes they could travel to Australia. But most Americans aren't very adventurous, and overseas travel is financially out of reach to most.

Thanks for the hotel recommendation. I'll check it out.

Well it seems I'll be back in Aussie-land in December AND January. Wheh.

The Blue Mountains were spectacular. Botanical Gardens, Wentworth Falls, North Lawson walking tracks... Very nice.
