Hey Guys, Gear Patrol has an article listing the best edc blades I think we can make a way better one. Here's the original article http://gearpatrol.com/2015/03/24/best-everyday-carry-knives/ lets improve this list:
I'll start these are not my favorites but are EDC's I would recommend if I made a list like this:
Cold Steel American Lawman or Code 4 CTS XHP of course, Benchmade Grip or mini grip (if your into that), Kershaw Blur or Knockout, Sibenza, Spyderco Sage (any of them), Para 2, Domino, Manix 2, Zero Tolerance 0350, 0801,
How would you improve the list given in the article

It appears that they attempted to go by user purpose. "Best tactical", "best value", etc.

Some right off the bat changes, keeping in mind that all of these are going to be debatable:

"Best value", given the understanding that value often means "inexpensive" to people: Ontario Rat 2.

"Best tactical" and "Best quickdraw" will be the same knife here: ZT 0620

"Best punchline": shark knife.

"Best gentleman's folder": I like the Lionsteel TiSpine, but I think a CRK Mnandi will be the most universally agreed upon

"Best... Best": CRK Sebenza, small insigno.

"Best performance for the dollar": Spyderco Manix 2 LW, S110V or Spyderco Native 5 LW, S35VN.

It is a given that everyone will have totally different lists.

More like top 10 knives we want to sell you. Not objectively done at all.

I agree with Hank.

My edc is a ZT0561. Been that way since they came out.

Hard to beat it for size, weight, and edge retention. Not to mention that buttery smooth, sexcellent opening. Sexcellent is a real word, btw....

Yup. What I would improve about the list is change most of the knives and also not have links pointing "where" to buy them. This seems like an ad....

Not everybody spends all day on BF. I think the list is a decent representation of different brands and more importantly price points. Dig those Barlows

Right. That said, it is a link to links of where to buy knives, or microwaves, or laptops, or luggage, or whatever.

Eh, it's not perfect but it could be worse. None of those are my personal Top 10 (no Spyderco!?!), but none made me cringe. Fair mix of brands, prices, sizes, steel.

Hehehe totally agreed. That's why I'm always leery of posts referring to any recommendation by any publication or blog.

I much prefer to gather my own data from feedback I get from the users here who have no agenda. Well, other than proving their expertise, that is. :D

For me RBid has reinterpreted this really nicely. Following that format I only have few minor preferences;

"Best value": Agreed - Ontario Rat 2.

"Best tactical" and "Best quickdraw" will be the same knife here: I would add almost any Emerson (I have 8) and the ZT0630 to the already mentioned ZT0620

"Best punchline": ?

"Best gentleman's folder": I think any CRK will fit here - I have a small Sebbie 21 with Cocobolo inlays but might also consider the Fallknieven TK3 series here too...

"Best... Best": As above possibly any CRK might fit here - I am not qualified to judge. For me the aforementioned Emerson/ZT's meet my wants/needs better.

"Best performance for the dollar": In addition to RBid's list of "Spyderco Manix 2 LW, S110V or Spyderco Native 5 LW, S35VN." I'd probably add the PM2 and it's various sprint runs, although for me the basic version suffices.

Nice clarifications RBid!!!

Honestly, I was expecting much worse. I don't know that I agree with any of the choices being the best, but the knives listed are mostly at least decent with a few great picks. Yes, they're trying to sell knives, but I'm hardly in a position to be angry at someone trying to sell knives.

Kershaw makes quite a few that would fill the "best performance for the dollar" slot, including (but not limited to), the perennial-favorite Blur, the Cryo, and Leek.

I've also heard the Leek suggested as a gent's knife, although you might want the unassisted version...

Benchmade makes very excellent knives for their price, but their higher cost might not make non-knife people consider them for "best performance for the dollar".

The Adamas could hold the "best Tactical" slot, and it comes in an AO version.
