I got my first gear order in today quicker than I expected. Those of you who have already done business with Two Wolves Outdoor and had the pleasure of dealing with Lupa Wolf probably already know how great their service is. Those of you who haven't I must say it was my best on-line shopping experience to date and I highly recommend them!

I ordered a Maxpedition Sitka "gear slinger" pack, a Nalgene Guyot, and a GSI cup for my kit, and a RAT H.E.S.T.

The Sitka is exactly what I wanted for my area. It is a smallish pack so I'll have no trouble with it getting on and off the small electric shuttle buses that run down town (they're free of charge so you can ride as much as you like to get from one area to another) but it has lots of places in its three compartments to secure my gear and holds more than I first thought it would. I am still playing with what goes where but I took some pics to give you some ideas of what it's like if you haven't seen one. So far I have my FAK, fire kit, fishing kit, lighting, some food, shelter materials and a few other things in it.

I'll post more on it later as I get a chance to carry it in town some

Camouflage poncho or tarp?

I traded my Maxped Gearslinger, a green Malaga, and went back to a green Pygmy Falcon II. Along with a Ontario RAT-7 and a small survival kit, hey! I got an Epiphone SG! However, the new generations of Maxpedition Gearslingers, Remora, Lunada, Malage and Sitka are all really excellent pieces of urban gear. Matter of fact, you don't even need a proviso, they're just excellent pieces of gear.

Nice photos, What is in that plastic container in pic#4?

Thanks, it's a little "drill-bit-case-survival-kit" I put together a while back. It has fishing line, hooks& weights, a ferro rod, a part of a magnesium block, a pill fob with pain relievers and allergy medicines and a few other little things in it. I guess I may rearrange it or separate it later, I was just checking out what all I could get in it today.

It's an issue poncho, I was/am considering a silnylon one to take up less space but at $85.00 I have to think about that some more. A RAT seven concealed in my pack could get me in some serious sh!# here lol.

Thanks, I'm really liking it so far, I could even get a note book in there in a case if I wanted to...hmmm, I may borrow Lisa's sometimes :)

Two things...

I too have had a great experience with Two Wolves Outdoors. I am waiting on a Guyot/Nalgene Standard, like you have there, but I already have the cups....

I got thinking that if I ever had to use my water bottle for a time, under real world circumstances, you know, living SERE against Plague Ninjas, or doing battle with Zombie Pirates... Then having a more durable alternative to the Nalgene HDPE or Tritan would be nice... I also have a HumanGear capCap on it's way to me from Two Wolves, and it will be nice to have one of those again, I gave the last one to my brother.

I also have RAT knives on their way to me.... I am getting an Izula and a RC-3 so that I can offer sheaths for them... But, I am also very interested to see how I will like the RC-3, I have high hopes for it.

And now to the other thing....

I am not for these 'tactical' type bags. Sore Thumb Territory, not for me....

Best,
Marion

It would take up less space, but man the durability and cheapness makes up for it INHO. Lots of grommet holes coupled with the rip stop weave makes for a pretty hefty customer. Though a tarp the same size that folds up smaller than a pepsi can would be cool.

I wanted a SS water bottle because they are tougher, I haven't heard anything about how they poison us (yet), and so if needs be I can boil water in it too.

This is my first RAT, but will not be my last.

As for the tactical type bags, lol, this is actually the least "tactical" of my packs :D

Yeah, I'm really familiar with the G.I. ponchos, I've had access to them since I was a kid. Also I keep coming back to the durability issue myself. I just don't think the silnylon is going to be anywhere near as tough as the issue one. It's funny...I may pay a few hundred dollars for one knife...but a hundred dollar poncho is just more than I can bear!! Now...if I honestly thought it would hold up as well or last as long....I probably would but hell I can buy three of these for the price of one of those.

Silnylon tarps don't have to cost $85. Check out OES

http://www.outdoorequipmentsupplier.com/products-tarps.html

It's a cottage shop with an excellent reputation and products, which can be customized to whatever you're looking for.

I want to get a MacCat Deluxe in SpinnUL. At 10.2oz, it'd go perfect with my Blackbird hammock. It's pricey, so I'm going to have to wait for a while.

Glad I'm not the only one that thinks a GI poncho is "must have" gear.

Yep, been standard gear for me for several years now.

nice size and nice looking pack :)- how well does just one shoulder strap work?

I really like it, like the extra mobility of my shoulder, plus the pack is designed so that you turn it horizontally to wear the strap on the other shoulder for when the first one needs a break.

Thanks, I'll check them out.

It's going to be multi-faceted really. It's partly a study on the street population and urban environment changes since the economy got so bad here and thousands got laid off. Partially it is to test some knowledge and skills gained, and seeing some things from a different perspective, and partly to remind myself just how much better things really are right now than they once were in my own life.

Excellent pictures, mistwalker! Looking forward to seeing more.
and thank you for the kind words. My pleasure to help.

And thank you Marion... always glad to be of service.
:)

I borrowed one and I haven't given it back, and I am likely to buy one because of how much I like it. I believe it is a must have as well!

I was canoing solo and got caught on the river at dark. Rain was moving in fast, I snapped two of those ponchos together around some river cane and had a warm snug dry shelter in no time. It was a little cramped sleeping curled up around my candle "heater", but it was a neat enough experience to remember it fondly twenty years later.

Good job as always Mist..Looking forward to hearing more about this urban rig. Sort of kind of working on the same idea..you beat me to it!! best regards anrkst
