I've done more research and reading than I would care to admit about what pack to get. I would like a smaller sized pack with molle attachments. I was beginning to lean toward a Pygmy Falcon or a Rush 12 but that still may be more than what I need. I don't need it for overnight trips, just day trips really. Do any of you use a maxpedition Sitka? What do you think about one if you've handled one? Is it comfortable? Would it make a good pack for someone who leans more towards the minimalist approach?

I have a gear slinger, and I love it. It's my everyday gear bag. Because it has only one strap you want to keep it pretty light. If you are going to use it to hike or camp, I would get a traditional double strap back pack from maxpedition.

I have a Sitka but I only use it when I'm packing light for a hike etc. If you are going to pack more or are going over night get a regular pack.

Keep in mind that a few of the gearslingers are ambidextrous and it's a fairly simple matter to switch shoulders. I use the Malaga, and fill it to the point of bursting and carry 3 liters of water, and don't have any issues with shoulder or back pain. However, on the few occasions that I've loaded it beyond this point (with external bags) I have had to do some shoulder switching to maintain comfort. Perfect for day-hikes.
