GEC #15 long pull on earlier models and nail nick on recent?

I'm trying to understand something about the GEC #15. It seems like the different blades have been made with long pulls the first time, and nail nick in later runs.

So far I've seen this on the spear and clip blades. The sheepfoot and razor/one arm have only been made once as far as I know.

Are my observations correct?

I thought I was posting it there. I'll ask if I can have it moved. Thank you for notifying me.

Yes you are correct.

Why? Perhaps to mix it up and it enhances the collectors' interest in these little changes. I like long-pulls, but it's not a deal breaker if it's a nail nick.

Every GEC run is unique in some way to the last or previous runs.

Yes, that is correct. We made the Spey blade with a nick the first time because it worked better in the two blade version. I won't rule out making it with a long pull next year though, single blade only.

 I must've missed this earlier!

op's question's been answered by the man himself. But I gotta say, while I like the aesthetics of the long pull, I prefer the nick on spear blades in the 15 frame because of the blade size. The spey is probably my favorite and I'd definitely get one with a long pull, though there are times when I miss having a fine tip. Maybe a pile-side pen would be a nice complement ;)

I hope this doesn't mean they've "used up" the long pull spear blades.

BTW I'm still waiting for them to put a wharncliffe blade in the #15 frame.
