GEC #23 Dual bolsters or lanyard hole? Which to get?

Eyeing up a GEC 23 for an EDC and was wondering if having a lanyard hole or getting bolsters at both ends of the handle is more important for you? They don't seem to make bolsters with lanyard holes, which would be nice.

I prefer it bareheaded as well. The rear bolster on that pattern just doesn't work for me aesthetically.

I like the lanyard hole. I carry a 23 in a belt sheath with a small lanyard to pull it out of the sheath quickly. I don't live in an area with pickpockets.

I only have two. One single northfield with rear bolster, and one double without rear bolster.

Neither have a lanyard hole. I have that same knife size with a lanyard and I find it nice as well.

What ever you like aesthetically I guess.

I love the look of the bolster on this Plum Red 23 but it doesn't see the inside of my pockets very often. A big heavy knife, the double bolster makes it heavier still. A real nutcracker!

I'm going to say barehead too. The second bolster doesn't look right on this pattern.

i gots one of thems
its a biggun!

i think i'd go with the single bolster and lanyard hole

My personal preference is barehead for this pattern. I have two without lanyard holes and really wish they had them. Why? The only practical way for me to carry a folder this big is in a sheath and a lanyard makes it much easier to pull out of a deep, secure sheath. Great tough pattern.

Single blade or 2 blade? For single blade, my personal preference in looks is with end caps, followed by barehead with lanyard tube, and lastly barehead without the tube. For use however, I think the one with the tube wins out mostly due to the lighter pulls they seem to have (in my experience but echoed by others as well) and that the lanyard can be handy.

For 2 blade, I have capped and bareheaded but don't have one with a tube. My 440c GEC #23s seem to have a lighter pull than the 1095 ones.

Are the GEC #23's blades thicker than the Queen Mountain Man line? Or are they pretty much the same?

IMO thick tag scales would require the barehead form. Bone and wood would do fine either barehead or end capped. My only #23 has thick stag w/o a lanyard tube. I've thought about asking one of the knife modders if they could put one in for me. If you have the choice I'd opt for the lanyard tube.

I prefer the look of bone or stag to that of nickel silver, so barehead for me, with or without lanyard tube.
