Quick easy question all.
Other than length, for the single blade version of both these knives, is there any difference?
Thanks,
Lenny

Lenny......

Good question...the size of each by itself is usually enough reason to buy one over the other, particularly if it's going to be used.....Trand of course mentioned the blade and handle thickness,of course there's a weight difference........now as far as a collector goes...

Both have been made with a single drop point blade or spey blade
Both have been made in a Cotton Sampler Pattern
Both have been made with drop point blade and liner lock
Both have been made with end caps
Both have been made with a lanyard tube
Both have been made with a nail nick or long pull......swedge or no swedge

Outside of those above mentioned, the only other differences I can thick of ...not all past and current handle choices have been done on both models...
There are a few shields that have only been done on the #73....
And the #23 has been the only one done with a spey blade and liner lock

From memory, the #23's blade and handles are thicker.

That's good to know. I had read somewhere that the 23 and 73 used the same stock. This was a cause for concern because I already think the 73's blade is on the thin side.

Trand and Jim, do you have any pictures showing the blade thickness of these two models side by side?

Christian, I don't have a pic with them directly side by side. The closest I have is this pic with the Kerry Hampton Pass Around Back Pocket in between.

Christian...

They're very close in thickness ..the #73 at 5/64" and the #23 at 3/32"...pictures a little later unless I'm beaten to it.....

Lenny - pic later if required. It's the stag that seems to make my GEC's on the thick side. My Stag #23 is really suited to back pocket carry only. I'd stick w/ either wood or bone for handles if you're looking for a #23 that's about the same thickness as a #73.
