Hi folks! This shouldn't take long :) I've been looking at both threads regarding the Churchill and American Jack. Are both these patterns the same thickness ie width in hand.
Reason being,I would like to purchase the one that has the thinner profile in pocket.
If there both the same then, I will flip a coin. :p

To be fair I prefer singles because I like low profile and do not like secondary blades messing with my grip. That being said my 35 in ebony is great, easily the slimmest multi blade that I own, but my ebony 78 is so much nicer. The feel on the 78 run is perfect for me, slim, stout, and sturdy with a lot of appeal and variety. In comparison my 35 feels disproportioned, and I do feel the secondary in my grip, it isn't a huge issue but I just like the single profile of the 78 better. Best of luck, you will dig either Im sure

Thank you AM, why is the 35 thinner than the 78 if they both have two blades?

The 78 has the blades at the same end. The 35 has them on opposite ends and a single spring.

If you want two blades and the thin profile the 35 is for you. If not, consider that the single blade version of the 78 is a spear point, the 35 a clip and sheepfoot secondary.

My bad, I was talking 78 singles not doubles, don't have one of those to compare Im afraid. The 35 for a double blade is the way to go for multi-baldes and thinness.

Ok, thats what I was looking for, I didn't realise there was a single blade 78 I thought it was only double. Thanks guys!

They are both Great knives to have . You would not go wrong by getting either one or both . The 35 gives you more blade options for the same thickness but I can not feel the difference in my pocket between a single blade thickness or a 2 blade thickness .

Thanks Harry! Yes I'm possibly doing a return to slipjoints. There seems to be some pending new laws with Canada Customs regarding one handed openers. I do like the idea of having that sheeps foot on the 35

The 35 has a thicker backspring and, at least on mine, the covers contour more. Measured my cougar clawed bone 35 at 12.47 mm and my smooth bone 78 single blade at 10.47 mm.

They are both great. The 35 is a great knife. It just depends what you want in the main blade and the secondary. The easy answer is get both!

Ha ha we all know that's most likely what I'll do! Seriously guys, its reminds me why the traditional forum is the best. There's a mighty fine bunch of fellas here

I have a 35 in Stag with the Clip and Small Sheepsfoot and I have a 78 with Scratted Jigged Bone and 2 blades Large & Small Spears . Measured with a vernier caliper this is what I find :
Max. thickness of the 35 over the Stag = .55 inch /// Thickness of Bolsters = .46 inch
Max. thickness of the 78 over the covers = .52 inch /// thickness of Bolsters = .50 inch
The knife that I prefer to carry = 78 because it is a Jack
