Picked up one of the GEC #42 American Elk lock back's that KSF listed recently. Unwrapped it today and I am impressed, really a nice knife. I like how easy the blade opens with the lock, does have a very slight up down movement in the blade as others have reported. Blade is sharp.
GEC did manage to scare the hell out of me, as I was unwrapping it something fell out of the wrapper, seemed to be chunk of one of the scales. turned out to be a small 42 button, nice touch but startled me.

That knife looks GOOD, Augie! The elk scales are incredible and work great with the triple-grooved bolsters.

Beautiful scales on that one, Augie! Something falling out of the tube would have freaked me out too. Nice surprise though.
