Ok... I'm smitten by the #42.

Does anybody have or could they take any comparison shots with an open 42 next to some other knives?

In particular, I'd love to see some shots of the 42 next to some other larger folders I'm familiar with such as:
Buck 110, 112, 500, Bucklite
Case Sodbuster, Sodbuster Jr
Schrade LB7, LB5, 5OT
Opinel 8, 9 or 10

Thanks!

Just so happens I have mine in my pocket. Don't have another knife with me so how about a comparison with a Sharpie?

It really is a great knife. One of my favorite GEC's. Here it is in hand. I wear large size glove

How's the lockup/blade play on that #42 compared to the #72?

This is my only GEC lock back. I bought mine used off the exchange last year. There is some minor up down/side to side play on mine. I've carried and used it quite a bit and the play is the same as when I purchased it. Just not severe enough for me to send it in for repair.

Photo I took a few days ago for another thread. The ebony on this knife is just beautiful.

72 clip point is my everyday knife but if i'm on hiking or camping trip it is 42 on duty.

mind of an addict,
first i got 23,it was too big for pocket,i was sure that 42 trader will fix the itch, but it wasn't available at time,so i bought 72 spear(clip points were sold)i like it and it is fine knife but....:D
next was 73 drop point(close, but still no cigar)
then finally i got mine 42 clip point, and guess what??? i found ot that i also need 72 clip point(got one)
and now i have incoming boys knife(clip point) and wandering about one with spear point

That picture right there is a torpedo just below waterline... The Opinel 9 is my knife. Sort of... A bit of my heart is left in my Buck 110... which is too much... The Buck 500 is so close but has a touch too much Burt Reynolds late 70s bling factor going on.

Dang....

Thanks folks. If you all have any pictures to add like a 42 next to a 110 or 112, I would love to see them. But that picture right there has pretty much done me in.

Here are a few 42's alongside a variety of GEC's. Love my 42's and carry one clipped in my pocket most everyday

I work in an office setting but like a knife with a 4 inch handle. Traditionals generally don't get the bad rap that modern folders get. I'm curious if you guys use your 42 at the office any?

I use my Opinel #9 for making lunch in my office setting all the time and the only comments it has ever generated have been positive.

I think the blade shape is a big part of it. I've filed mine to more a straight drop and it looks like a common paring knife.

I'm hoping that the non-radical nature of the 42's clip affords the same thing, compared, say, to a Buck 110 or 112, both of which have more radical clips.

Hoping those with 42s will answer your question as I'm very, very interested in the experiences of others on this one.

Meako love that shot. I need to get an LB7 and or 6OT some day.

Do you find that the 42 is pocketable in ways that the 110 is not?
