Just got this in today. A Tidioute #48 Improved Trapper SFO in African Blackwood.

With all the SFO's around here lately have been it's been hard to choose between 'em but when I saw this trapper with a Wharnie I was hooked. This bad boy is 3-7/8" closed, 7" open. Fit and finish are impeccable, pull is about a 6 to 7 with solid half-stops and good snap to close, and blades are perfectly centered. Can't say I can find anything wrong with this puppy. I even like that there's no engraving on the blades.

Knifeswapper and GEC outdid themselves with this one.

If anyone else grabbed one of these feel free to post 'em up.

Sorry the only pic I had on file.
I love this Trapper SFO as well and it tends to be my Sunday church carry. I have to say Knifeswapper and Collector Knives are great.

Now there's a great pair of SFO's. I wish I had gotten in on the "Real Barlow" when it was available.

That looks really great! Like you I prefer my blades with no etchings, it makes them look more classy IMO.

Look more like real traditional knives with the etchings. Most of better old ones had something on the blade.
Agreed. I generally prefer etchings but on this particular knife I think the lack of etchings reinforces the clean lines and simple design.

Well, there was one made with an etch... :D

It really is a great pattern, one of my favorites :) Here it is with it's brothers.

Thanks Brett. I misspoke actually, the #48 is not one of my favorites but is actually my favorite :) They make up the largest part of my GEC and knife collection.

As a general rule, trappers and stockmen just don't do it for me BUT THIS ONE. I had to have it. Everything about it was just a Siren song. Next is the Dixie Stockman.

Love my #48 SFO from collectorknives.net. Excellent fit and finish. Great snap. Really nice African blackwood scales. The hounds tooth shield is classy and the brass liners and pins give it a nice contrast.

Nice! I love the blackwood, I have a 78 in it and it has a great feel. I also really like the blank shields they use with them, especially that arrow one. I wish they would use more blank shields, I find myself gravitating towards the few wood handle knives that seem to get the blank shields over some of the bone and stag versions with logo shields because of that. Would love a stag knife with a blank shield (looks like we might be getting blank shield with the stag forum knife form the mockup drawings, yay!)

I did want one of the single bladed SFO's in African Blackwood, but I snoozed and lost. However, the regular production Improved Trapper I have is a favorite, any way you slice it.
